That's our current top scorer, on pace for more than 20 league goals this season despite playing in front of a midfield being carried ENTIRELY by Idrissa Gana Gueye? LOL at your definition of underperforming.
He's rubbish, you'll see

Do you think we could win the SPL Mikey?
There's a good video about what we are doing to try and close the same gap. It's tough but for us it largely comes down to getting through this transitional period and into the new stadium. Match-day income really can make a large difference, as well as the sponsorship deals that come with it all. Much of this video is relevant for Everton as well I would imagine as you will need to find a way to do something similar.
All young players signed / developed who played last night;
Rose
Walker
Dier
Alli
Kane
Winks (sub)
Thats half a team there.
This allows you to spend on the other half of the team to compliment these guys.
I hope that over the next 2 seasons we can also bring through a handful of players which allows us to spend big on the others.
Currently, we have Holgate, Barkley Calvert-Lewin and Davies who should be there or thereabouts and with Lookman signing in Jan + a couple of others to come through we may be able to do so.
Barkley, Coleman, Davies, Holgate, Lookman (if signed). We are not that behind.
Currently;
Barkley
Coleman (forgot him)
Holgate
Davies
Lookman (if signed))
Galloway (next season)
Calvert-Lewin (getting mins)
Hopefully
Kenny
Walsh
Connolly
Dowell
At least in the squad of 25 that would be impressive. Bar the 3 keepers for a squad, thats half of it.
And what good did all those seeds of optimism do for Martinez after his first season Joey? We need honesty and practical management at the club right now, not flowery speeches and propaganda. I've seen enough to be optimistic about the future of the club under Koeman, it might be a painful season but we'll be in a much better position at the end of it then we we're last season.Fair point , but by now I feel we should be seeing seeds of optimism like we did in RM first season
Hes done 1 about Everton.
I hope to share your optimism - that first half v leicester was as bad as I have seen - we have not seen a full 90 minute performance of quality as yet - RM first season had its faults we may have got a top 4 position - bad defending and keeping cost us that -lets see what RK can do then!And what good did all those seeds of optimism do for Martinez after his first season Joey? Finished 11th last two season's, currently 7th when all the top 6 are firing - what more do people want when we still have such a daft squad and Koeman (And Walsh) haven't had much time to bring in fresh talent.
Along with Moshiri paying off our debts, getting a new stadium and finishing off the Chang deal, we're setting a nice platform to achieve bigger things but everyone needs to be patient.
This isn't just accepting mediocrity like the Moyes era.
But comparing Koeman'a first season and Martinez is comparing apples and oranges. Everything was different. Martinez inherited a decent side in a good place who knew their business and knew how to defend. Martinez took all that and made us play different then we had in years. It shocked people who thought they knew how we played but it became less and less effective once people figured us out. In any event it all fell off cliff in the second season didn't it? Koeman has inherited a poor side that is a combination of player's who are either past it or never had it to begin with. It's not all about one season in isolation anyway, it's about were we are in two or three years. I'm taking the long term view here. If we're still playing like this next season and struggling I'll agree with you but right now we're 7th and winning ugly and that's enough for me right now. I'd rather we won playing ugly then play phenomenal football and lose. In your point over Leicester, come on mate it really wasn't that bad. You think the first half vs Leicester this season was worse then last season?! Or any of the abominations we've seen for the last two years?!I hope to share your optimism - that first half v leicester was as bad as I have seen - we have not seen a full 90 minute performance of quality as yet - RM first season had its faults we may have got a top 4 position - bad defending and keeping cost us that -lets see what RK can do then!
It is hard to compare, but RK will have to come far better imo his team selections are baffling not just me imoBut comparing Koeman'a first season and Martinez is comparing apples and oranges.
