On what basis would any club be willing to spend sixty million quid on a player but then not bother signing your 2nd, 3rd or 15th choices once it became clear it wasn't happening?

If we spend £100m+ in Jan I'll believe it, if not then it's difficult to see how we could ever have had that spending power. If it happens though, I will question Koeman/Walsh's decisions in the summer.

I couldn't describe the deadwood in our squad any better; we have so many crappy players (and in Gibson's case, crapulent) that need flushing away.
