Ronald Koeman discussion

now reading this it give me an idea. Imagine it is 12 months ago with martinez in charge and read the below again

Many seasons start off in the Prem or old Div 1 with a minnow or a team that you don't expect at the top, for a few weeks,
then they drop like a stone. (Only Leicester proving me wrong). I genuinely think that we are that stone this season.
The teams above us at the moment will stay above us, the teams down to 17th place have better managers than we have,
the present bottom 3 have more fight in them than we do. Martinez is going to break the bank in January, and I think most
of us know, he should not be trusted, Sack him now! He has had the best Everton squad we have had in years, and we are
getting nowhere. Get Unsworth in with one of the backroom staff, just for the rest of this season. Mark my words: Martinez will freeze against Liverpool (He's already said the RS are the best in the league), do you think that Dunc alongside
Unsworth & Royle will give us fight? I do.
This should of been done after the derby drubbing at Anfield until the end of the season

At the start of 2016 we had Kenwright and Coco the clown in charge.

At the start of 2017 we will have Moshiri and a manager that has had 2 very good seasons on the bounce with Southampton and is clearly a league above his bumbling predecessor in terms of being a player, a manager and of course how serious people will take him in the game.

Rejoice, times are changing.

It should have been hence why i read it as 12 months old rant haha

I would have liked to have seen them all in charge til after Norwich, said it at the time, least they would have given the everton based players if nothing else, spark and fight.

If Koeman is a good as you all say he is but he underachieves this season, should he be given another season and if you think yes then why? Surely if he is that good.....

If we don't finish 10th or above then questions need to be asked of not just Koeman, but everybody at the club.

Two seasons, minimum, barring a disaster.

The aim is top seven this year though and anything below that will be considered an underachievement - not just by the fans but Koeman himself.

But Koeman is a realist. That is why he clashes with some sets of fans to some extent.

I'm in no way blaming the fans. It's football and it's what makes it so great, but people just need to - every once in a while - take a back seat and just look at it from a different perspective.

He needs to rebuild a side that has for the last 2 years had some infantile manager blabbing in their ear and making out everything was OK when it wasn't. He needs at least a season to get rid of the rotten apples and build his own side and only then for me can he be judged.

The transfer window was a disaster, we have heard from Moshiri why that was. We need to try and start rebuilding in January if we can actually manage to offload some of the complete dross brought in by Coco.

He has been actually in the job with the team he puts out for 4 months. Have some fans become so short sighted and deluded or just a bit childish and impatient? Would some maybe be resembling the behaviour of the lovable Geordies that tend to get mocked a lot on here for the way they behave?

He needs time at least 2 full seasons. He needs his own players that fit into the system he wants to play.
Look at them lot across the park scraped a draw at west brom and celebrated like they achieved something in front of the kop, got smashed 3-0 by Watford last season and looking like they were no different from the team that got Rodgers sacked!!
Roll on 12 months and......well no more words needed!!!:hayee:

Give him time be patient mate, i'm confident all will come good... Two top 6 finishes with Southampton is not bad going for a manager

I think he will come good too, but its imperative that we get to spend in line with the expectations that have built up, and he makes the team/squad his own. Then he can be judged fairly.

The squad has deteriorated to such a degree in my view that RK will only have limited gain in things like tactical reorganisation and whatever motivational techniques he can avail of.

In many ways it is the perfect storm which he has inherited. Rising expectations which are at a 25-year high coupled with the natural decline and aging of large parts of the squad, and the damage to good habits, consistency, and discipline inflicted by his predecessor.

Whomever succeeded Martinez would have faced the same uphill challenges. RK is certainly responsible and accountable from day one, that's what he is paid for. But he is certainly entitled to some slack also.

EDIT: It also strikes me, that whilst I was not a particular fan of Moyes, he did to his credit shield us for a decade from the true costs of underinvestment and inept business management. Take Moshiri out of the equation (and you can do, as this squad at present has not benefitted from a big cash injection) and you just see the end-results of a generation of stagnation. Time has caught up with the present squad exacerbated by the lack of a steady hand (Martinez) and this is what Koeman has walked into.
