Ronald Koeman discussion

He needs his players. Not moyes aging defenders or martinez midfielders , Koeman needs his players in there.

Until we back the manager and do it then the results are keep going to end up as we are getting now.

So your saying a squad with players like Lukaku, Baines, Coleman, Williams, Jags, Barry, Gana, Barkley, Del, Kev, Bolasie should be struggling against Burnley and Swansea because he's not brought his own men in

Fact is he can't get the players motivated or performing

Won't be easy though.

We need to ship out a lot. Who exactly will want them?

Then there's the issue of getting quality in. I believe we did try in the summer, for big big money, but good players just don't want to come here. Yet.

I'd like to see the youngsters given a chance. Every one of our numerous young defenders given a game over the last 2 years has done a decent job IMO. And Davies similarly has in midfield. The positions we need to by in are goalkeeper, creative midfield and another forward. The youngsters can provide the improvements elsewhere IMO

OK mate.

Bolasie is not a top 6 winger.

Baines and Coleman past their best in the sense that they were better 4-5 years ago.

Del is over rated by us

Barry is 36 ffs

Lukaku can't score if no one creates for him

Ross has under performed for 3 years now

Kev probably affected by not being played for 2 years and probably needs a new challenge elsewhere

Gueye isn't world class, his job is to win the ball not control the midfield

Jags has gone past his best

Williams been fine so far.

How many of those players are moyes signings as well? 2 different managers later and you expect half of them to still be fantastic for us? Some are past their best, others aren't really that good.

So, hes getting players to do things they're not accustomed to doing.

Doesnt mean they don't have quality, it means they don't fit the system.

But I have to question the system that renders a 20 goal a season striker "not good enough"

It's not about Rom being not good enough at all.

He doesn't do enough to be that 'workhorse' striker but all-round he offers goals, which is what counts.

So, you need players around him who have that mix of quality and work-rate. Bolasie has it, even though he's frustrating as hell.

Barkley when he's got confidence does. The rest just let games pass them by.

The form we're in now is worrying in the sense that it only took one bad result vs Bournemouth for our squad to falter and doubt themselves.

That shows to me that this squad is weak to the core and needs revitalising

Koeman hasn't been perfect, but no manager is.

He was fuming yesterday though, and personally I'm happy we have a manager who acknowledges the problems and issues (which he has clearly attempted to fix btw) rather than somebody who will bang on about how many passes we strung together.

Hahahahaha who's mentioned top 6 or world class players

I'm talking about Koeman not being able to get that group of players to perform above average

We are struggling against some of the poorest sides in the league

We haven't pressed or looked at the races for weeks

Whats he done to alter this?

So without players top 6 quality you are complaining we aren't over achieving?

Bit of a moan that mate, how dare our mid table squad be in mid table........

And how dare koeman not take mid table players into the top 6.

you could have Catterick Kendal Clough Ferguson Busby and all of them could not get this team to be better than they, we have a maximum of 5 good players one of them is 35 years old.
Look just hope we can stay up this season and add some players in January and next summer.
Do not expect superstar signings they will not come, our best hope is to get some unknown gems, like Gana.
Frankly, I dread the next match coming, I honestly do not know who we can beat, and December is a football free Zone for me, I cannot bring myself to go to any of those games, that's how bad I think we are.
However, none of the blame at this stage can be blamed, I am sure when he came he did not realise how bad his players are.
I believe he would walk if he could.

I think he could well do if the board pull another stunt like they did in the summer mate

What on earth are you babbling on about?

When have I mentioned league position? When have I said we should be higher in the league

I am talking about performances, I am asking why Koeman can't get this group playing better football than we are seeing

That's not the point. Our squad, regardless of what excuses people may make, should be able to perform against the likes of Swansea et al.

The issue is that for whatever reason they're not and our league position cloaks how tepid and lacklustre some of our performances have been.

We're struggling to perform against the lower half teams let alone the top six - that's a concern which should be addressed.

Should be at least given a chance imo because the tried and tested players are a weak minded pathetic bunch. They've been awful for nearly 2 and a half years so that ain't going to change

Joel & Stekkers ain't number 1 keepers
Coleman for the majority of the past 2 years has been piss poor
Baines has been injured for the majority of the past 2 years
Jagielka looks finished
Funes Mori isn't up to the standard required
McCarthy awful for 2 years
Mirallas has done nothing for 2 years
Cleverly has done nothing for 2 years
Gibson injured for 2 years
Kone has done nothing for 2 years
Niasse is stealing oxygen
McGeady has done nothing

Above is some bang average players along with players whose reputation and not current form means their position isn't under threat

Basically we are crap and to inject some freshness into it we should promote 4-5 from the u23's and start bleeding them in now and then we MUST buy and buy quality and quantity in January.
