Im no expert on football tactics but if the squad you have can't play the system you want then surely for 6m a year it should not be beyond possibility to find a system they can play until you can get the right personell

Maybe but do you have any idea what system these players could play in?

I don't.

But we're not on £6m a year I suppose.

at home to one of the poorest teams in prem and we scrape a draw. clearly the fitness levels still arent there as they dont cover ground . no support for one of the most lethal strikers in the prem. madness utter madness. no improvement on martinez so far

Didn't we lose 1-0 at home to Swansea last year?

Spot on

He's doing what Martinez used to do, Play the same way game after game regardless of performance or result

As I said earlier, I fear we have a expensive dud on our hands

Played 3 at the back against Chelsea didn't he? After many fans saying that is what he should do?

“I was not calm because we spoke a lot about about what happened at Chelsea,” he said.

“We spoke about how we need to start. We spoke about the opponent that they are in a difficult situation - from the start [we needed to] be aggressive, press, make it difficult so they are not comfortable on the pitch and it was not like that.

“I was angry because we know how we need to play but some players in the team it’s difficult to have that attitude maybe but okay the reaction in the second half we saw but not in the first half.”

“I expected a reaction from the start, not from the start of the second half. Of course in the second half we did good things – we played good football, won a lot of second balls with good pressing and we made it very difficult for them.

"That was a different attitude and what we expected from the start. But maybe a lack of confidence that we need. But I don’t understand why we needed to be one nil down to get that reaction.”

“When you play at home, we know if we play like the second half we will have the support of the fans,” he said.

“You can lose in football but it’s about how you lose the game. If you don’t press, if you don’t make it difficult, if you don’t run [and] go for it.”

“Maybe it’s better [to get angry before the game]. Of course I analyse myself - what I need to do so we make a good start at least at home. Maybe it was little lack of confidence after what happened against Chelsea and they had doubts. But if you have doubts on the pitch you are not yourself and you cannot be yourself for the team.”

The bold points are quite interesting. The more you hear him speak, he's saying the same things - pressing, aggression, attitude etc and the bit about some players having difficulty to have the attitude he wants suggests that he's thinking the same thing as the fans. Unfortunately he cannot do much about it until January/the summer.

To me, I think they did press. They just didn't do it effectively or as a team against a side who can play football.

Additionally, id like for him to explain why we can't keep the ball in possession and has instructed the defence to Yobo it every time they had it

Clearly feels like he's banging his head against a brick wall at times, I'm glad he clearly knows what he's doing, it's just about getting the right personnel in. Hope he's ruthless in the transfer market.

That's good to read.

Our squad is broken.

not much improvement mate to be honest. a 90th min scraped equaliser against one of the poorest teams in prem causes concern not comfort. as for koeman coming out saying if we started second half as first we would have won the game. yeh right. great comments from mr roberto with a pr implant. he needs to up his game as dec is round the corner with no clear imp on fitness, pressing etc

Not comfort no. But we least against Swansea last season we didn't this. Little things.

I can't blame the manager too much at the moment. I just can't.
