Romelu Lukaku

Was he a beast? Brilliant finisher on his day and when he could be arsed....

Mental gymnastics have people scrambling around for reasons why he's 'suddenly' terrible.

You are right - he's exactly the same as he was here. Same 'one game unplayable in ten' form, same terrible technique, same awful work rate. The lot.

I used to watch him and think, why is this natural goal scorer so universally so unpopular at Goodison? He’d spend much of the game mis controlling the ball, first touch awful, arms stretched out in front of him complaining at his colleagues...then suddenly, out of the blue, he’d put the ball in the net in predatory fashion.

Having spent the previous 70 odd minutes moaning about him, I’d be punching the air in delight at “Our wonderful centre forward “.

That said, I’d have him back anytime.

He looks twice the size at United than he was at Everton.
But he has gone backwards mate the lad has lost his pace.

Honestly, that's not the issue. Think about it - just last month, 25 January, he tore apart Arsenal with pace and power. If it was his size that was the issue, he'd have been completely incapable of that performance.

It isn't; it's the same Lukaku - he has games like that where he's completely unplayable, but then do absolutely nothing whatsoever for the next nine games on the spin.

The sole difference was at Everton he had the goal output to disguise it and the fans were easily pleased. That's literally the only difference.

Mate he has put on too much weight/muscle on wherever you want to call it and he has lost pace.
