Agreed with all of this. I think Stones is the one we'd be prepared to drop the asking price for to secure the move, and so be it - he was professional after last summer. Ideally I'd want him to stay, but won't begrudge a move.

Lukaku is a different story as he tried to back us into a corner and get the fans riled up into demanding he goes on the cheap, giving "plucky little Everton" the easy out for £40m ish.

Gives us twelve months to identify new targets to suit our way of playing, then we can offload - or it gives us twelve months to build around him, then reward him with the new contract if he keeps his mouth shut.
