I don't subscribe to that idea. He doesn't contribute enough overall, doesn't bring other players into play. He's a cumbersome oaf, and he's going to fail spectacularly at his next team

Thing is we play him solely to score goals and play with two holding midfielders to protect the defence. So if we wanted him to cover ground all day then we would have a more industrious striker.
Not all strikers are the same and van nistelroy and Ibrahimovic for example don't run the channels or be some all round striker. They score goals and win games, and lukaku does that in spades in this team. We would have been down well before now if we didn't have his goals, and almost got to the final of the fa cup, only that it was one game too many for him to carry the team on his shoulders
I'm waiting for him to be shipped out for ultimate vindication. He's holding us back

Ha take him out the club and we may as well just give up.
We literally have no other player to play up front. Kone niasse and valencia will struggle to get 10 goals between them all season. Who scores our goals then without him? Even this year we have struggled to score without him.

OK, with whom? Seeing as though for all intents and purposes we are still a mid table club and any striker who can score as many as he has consistently wouod want to play for a champions league side.
It also dismiss the fact if we were to get there, it would be down to lukaku and dismiss the fact lukaku has scored more goals than messi had at the same point, perhaps that was last year, but still, fella will break 100 goals this year and is only 23. Most strikers are lucky to break it in their career.
Oh and the fact the club still have no intention of spending real money, and have Kenwright in charge of negotiations, how are you so confident we can sign a player better than him ?
