Villa and Liverpool going for him reflected footballing circles recognition of him - I've been banging on about him since his Swansea days but forums work on flavour of the month and peer pressure - remember the Pereira bandwagon?? he has no experience of english football never even worked in this country but someone made a case based on internet stats and he was God!!!

Considered thought makes up 2% of content on forums.

Hey man, Pereira was a God.

Probably not the best choice for manager in retrospect, but a God nonetheless.

Martinez has been a studio analyst for ESPN here in the USA during their coverage of the last World Cup and the most recent European Championships. He's been very good and I found myself liking his commentary and his thinking and this was while he was managing Wigan at the time.

Never had an inkling he'd end up being our manager. I'm sure they'll have him back for this World Cup as well which would be great for Everton's profile in the USA.

I admit I was one of the most vocal on here in saying Martinez wasn't the right man for us, and only time will tell long term if I was right or wrong in my assessment.

One thing I am so happy with though, is it's really nice to see us playing proper football and it's great to hear so many pundits and fans of other clubs remarking on that.

So far Martinez was very much the shrewd choice and he's doing very well, but I hope he gets better backing than Moyes did over the years to help him achieve and maintain a good standard.

A couple of key men for us this year are only on loan, Lukaku in particular will be a bad miss when he's gone and we need the board to change a habit of a lifetime and give Martinez healthy funds to replace him and continue to invest quality in the squad.

we should get one or two in jan , to keep up the pressure on the squad, and go for a euro spot if we can to get some funds to spend for next season, not holding my breath like but you never know.
