Shock, horror.

It surprises me, because he said in the Echo just over a year ago that:

“I feel I can add some value in certain areas, wherever Bill Kenwright wants to point me and I think that the move is absolutely essential...I’ll be here as much as I can. I’ll add my business acumen, money and a lot of energy.”

Why Kirkby is the Everton's only option - Liverpool Echo.co.uk

...I suppose what he really meant to say was: "I'll just hang around like a dead weight and see if Tesco can double the value of my shares"

I think the interesting aspect is this: he'll invest if we move - so is the corollary that he'll sell up if we dont?

Sell up to who? If Kirkby falls flat on its face, no one would invest unless there was talk of a another potential move.

Gregg invested with Kings Dock in mind. Fell flat on its face -> Earl purchases Greggs share with Kirkby in mind....

You're right - the stadium issue has been crucial to the buying up of Everton. That wont change. In the wake of a Kirkby move failure any new owner will have a ground move in mind. I doubt someone like Earl hasn't got an exit strategy in place. He'll know by now the lay of the land in terms of alternative visions for an Everton stadium elsewhere, whom he might deal with, and how much he can expect to settle for on top of his purchase price.

Yes, so Gregg invested with the King's Dock in mind. Fell flat on its face. Earl invests with Kirkby in mind, it'll fall flat on it's face. Someone else will invest with another move in mind....and that'll fall flat on it's face. And so on. And so on.

Until Bill decides the time has come to sell HIS shares as well as those of the people he has duped / convinced

THEN a new stadium will come to fruition and THEN David Moyes (or whoever replaces him when he's had enough of being hamstrung by the board) will get money to spend.

Everton is doing great with THE most depleted squad in the prem league.
