apparently we tried to get him when he was 17 aswell but he picked celtic. also found this while having a look:

"Although his arrival at Everton sparked a revival, he was the subject of petty jealousy and poison pen letters despite giving them some good service."

anyone have any idea what thats about?

I've just this minute logged on and seen this. Bobby came at the start of a new era at Everton and I wish he'd been here longer.

Dave Hickson was my hero when I was a little kid and Bobby was my hero when I was a big kid. R.I.P.

Remember when he played for us and we were playng Arsenal( I think) at G P and the Little General as he was called was sitting in the Main Stand (out injured) With his mrs/ gf and we were playing a bit poor like and that was when the seat cushions came raining down from the Main Stand (which was quite normal if things were not going to plan) anyway Bobbies wife / gf was overheard asking Bobby why the cushions were flying through the air ? To which he replied because we are playing bloody +++++.

That would've been the night we got thumped 1-6. I was in the boy's pen, probably near Bill, and it's one of my worst memories.

The famous cushions they reigned down in HK days when we drew 0-0 v Coventry - HK was so close to being sacked - those cushions would have hit DM on occasion when we finished 17th for instance - the wooden seats were so hard to sit on am I right you purchased them as an extra for you seat can't remember as I was a terrace boy at the time!?

Think they came F O C .

Seem to remember you had to pay.I had a season ticket in the main stand 66 season and never had one.Collins was a great player and was instrumental in the emerging Leeds team of the 60s.Here an extract from the infamous Goodison 64 game. After the resumption, some of the tackling, particularly by Norman Hunter and Roy Vernon, was brutal in

the extreme and the match continued to seethe with an undercurrent of barely concealed aggression. Hunter was booked, and the referee lectured Bremner, Collins, Vernon and Stevens for dangerous play. A number of players were fortunate to avoid joining Brown in the dressing room.

Bobby Collins became more dominant, seemingly relishing the kind of hostile environment in which he thrived. Ian W Guild: "Collins stood out on his own as the complete footballer. His generalship and shrewd distribution, together with his willingness to work at both ends of the field, guaranteed Leeds the lion's share of the ball." He ensured that United made the most of their man advantage, exhorting his troops to stretch the game and force Everton to work hard for any possession.
