Player Valuation: £1.5m
just watched the malaga game. for the most part hibbert looks like dead man walking.

positionally still suspect. constantly appeared hesitant and no positive play at all.

no rapport with osman and other players seemed reluctant to play him into the game. when he did recieve the ball he messed up and / or killed the momentuum created by others.

i do like the guy, think he's an honest player but now can only seriously be considered as a squad player .. right back must be our number 1 priority between now and the transfer window closing.

ideally i'd want to see someone else there for the arsenal game..

i still think his fa mare is in his head and if invited arsenal will give him a groundhog day.

I 'd lay good money on us not having a new right back by next Sat.

And maybe some not quite so good money on us not having one by August 31st.

I'd rather get a quality defensive midfielder & move Neville to right back, but I take your point & think you're probably making a fair assessment of Hibbert, although I've always had a soft spot for the lad (not in any kind of depraved way, of course!).

I'd put £50 or 500 kroner of my wife's money on that outcome, too.

But I wish people would be more respectful towards Hibbert. We can improve on him, the same as we can improve on every single position at the club. But the man gives his all for Everton and other than a few problems with his distribution, he is actually a good, experienced RB.

no rapport with osman
Because Osman isn't a right midfielder, as you can see by the amount of times he cuts inside/turns up just outside box in central position/leaves Hibbert isolated.

I'm not praising Hibbert to the sky, and I'm not crucifying Osman (who I think misses out when compared to Cahill and the rest of the competition in central midfield) but I would rather see a decent right midfielder than a replacement for Hibbert.

That's also very true. An injured Osman was covering for the missing VDM last season & we haven't had a successful right-side midfield player for a while (remember Davies?). I don't really want to see Moyes push Arteta back out wide to accommodate having both Fellaini & Cahill in the side.

when most of our goals conceded didn't come from the right side, i don't see why it should be our top priority.

hibbo is not the best player out there, but he is a right back. he does the job of a right back most of the time.

osman is a central midfielder, he scores all his goals from the center, he doesn't cross well, but he plays on the right rather than in the center

i'm not sure what you mean about them not passing to him, i only saw the first half but he seemed to be knocking it around effectively with rodwell and neville, i remember one instance where our defence passed it around in the back under heavy pressure and neville hibbo and rodwell all got 2 or so passes, all under control.

going into the future it might be time to replace hibbert, but i think he's a reliable defender overall, he works well in keeping a line with the rest of the team. a right midfielder should definitely be our top priority, its unfair to push a player like osman out wide just to fill a gap, he should be there to pressure cahill fellaini and arteta for a spot in the middle, but we severely need a right winger.

Have to say I'm getting a bit tired of all the Hibbert bashing .
Our right side isn't as good as we like , but it doesn't all fall on Hibberts shoulders . He isn't the best , but he's still a damn good defender on his day , and for what it's worth , I doubt anyone will change matters by writing the same comments time and time again , forum to forum .
It's not essential for both our center backs to surge forward destroying teams . They're not castles and this isn't chess . Untill Moyes drops him , why not give him a clean slate to work with and see how he does . If you only look for negatives in his game , then that is all you will find . Try to find a few positives , and he isn't any where near as bad as some make out .

It's a simple fact Hibbert will play v Arsenal.

If not, it wont be a new face.

Why did we let Jacobsen go? One of our worst moves this summer.

Dont just dont

Because he wasn't any good?

I seriously don't get this idea that Jacobsen is a great player. He really isn't. No improvement on Hibbert.

He's better than Hibbert. And if not, he was good cover.

No one's said he's a great player.

It's also cover we now do not have.

Don't think he's anywhere near the standard to be honest. If he was, he would have played. Unless Moyes is the only one out there with Hibbert specs on.
