Reports are suggesting Spurs are in a sell-to-buy situation this summer if they don't make the Champions League via the Europa League. They've got far too many strikers and clearly none of Solanke, Son, Kulusevski or Johnson will be sold, and they're probably signing Tel from Bayern too. Richarlison, therefore, is at least fifth in the pecking order. They'll accept any moderate bids for him I reckon, 100k off the wage bill for a player who, even if fit, will likely start fewer than 10 games. Go in for a 'cheeky' loan with an obligation and it'll likely get it done if he's set on the Blues of Merseyside FC.

Strange one for me. Obviously loves the club so would be willing to take less wages? People seem to forget that he ran through brick walls for this club, played that palace game with injections i seem to remember? Ran his body to the ground for this club.

Doesnt get the love from the spurs fans, type of player to play on emotion i think, if he played for us with the fans loving home his game goes up a few levels.

With a big turnover of players coming in the summer I think getting someone like him on a loan would be beneficial imo

I can’t understand why the club always has to go back in for past players.
Surely there is a younger, cheaper, less injury-prone footballer in Europe/South America with a similar profile to Richarlison.

Maybe I am being forgetful but when was the last time the club officially went in for an ex player?

The fans generally talk about past players, but that is natural as that is what we know. However, the club going in for past players is something I can't really recall, even any valid/reliable media comments about them?

The second part is something I logically agree with but a lot of me just loves the guy. I have a really strong hope that he comes back and lifts us to a great season in our new shiny stadium.

He would be a much more effective loan then most have have had for a while.

Would easily improve the team (if he manages to get the game time), and I dont think its even close he gets more goals and assists then Harrison/Broja/Lindstrom

Ferguson had been an important player for us before we sold him to Newcastle. His time with the horse punchers was not a success for him so we bought him back and lived with his injuries and suspensions for the rest of his football career.

I'm going to flip that mate and say that I'd be surprised in the PL era if any club had re-signed players more than Everton.

Beagrie, Unsworth, Ferguson, Stubbs, McFadden, Pienaar, Gravesen, Manny Fernandes, Jeffers, Donovan, Rooney, Gana Gueye and Deulofeu are the ones I can think of.

Look across the park and they've re-signed 3 players in the same period - Staunton, Fowler and Bellamy.

It isn't a stretch to suggest that we have form for this sort of thing.

To apply this to Richarlison - I loved the guy when he was here. You cannot knock what he gave to this club, left everything out there on the pitch and I'd take that Richarlison back in a heartbeat - but he's 3 years older, has a terrible injury record and hasn't really been in any sort of meaningful form for a while. Added to that, he earns good money - anything more than a loan or a deal where Spurs take a huge bath (and Levy pretty much never does this) seems unwise.

- was Brazil's number 9 when he was last playing for us
- ran himself into the ground every game
- proven quality premier league player and goalscorer
- he's only 27

You make a couple of good points there, I am very forgetful at times. Maybe if I had thought about it more I could have remembered these .

Although, there are a few loans in there, like Fernandes (back to back loans), Donovan (US players using Europe to keep fit for a World Cup, just wanting to play some football elsewhere in their time off can't be considered too much 'going back for a past player'). Also, I checked up Deulofeu as I thought he simply signed after he was on loan, but he went on loan elsewhere then signed for us, so it might as well have been a Lukaku/Barry/Gomes situation of signing after a loan.

There is of course the case for the defence, with Gana & Pienaar slotting straight back in and doing a good job for us. Ferguson, Unsworth (Pretty sure this might have been him begging to come back after the geography mix up with his wife ) & Stubbs could be argued as decent enough signings as well. Obviously we want more than just decent but it is not a stretch to use them. I also think Rooney could have been a better success if the recruitment plan around him was better.

The injury is the only worry for me. I do also see him as a Moyes type forward as well. Has the talent to chip in with goals but knows that a bit of effort is also needed, and is willing to do that. That adds it for me as a yes, on top of sentimentality.
