Richarlison

Maybe I am being forgetful but when was the last time the club officially went in for an ex player?

The fans generally talk about past players, but that is natural as that is what we know. However, the club going in for past players is something I can't really recall, even any valid/reliable media comments about them?

The second part is something I logically agree with but a lot of me just loves the guy. I have a really strong hope that he comes back and lifts us to a great season in our new shiny stadium.
There are 2 - Gueye and Begovic - in the current squad, along with the manager. It's very much a thing we do.

Don't think it's sentiment from Everton's perspective.

Take our last handful of loans - he'd comfortably outperform them all.

Take the sentiment away from his side, and he wouldn't entertain us.

All comes down to the terms.

If he can stay fit then yes he will outperform previous loans, let’s be honest they are not exactly a high bar to surpass are they?

I think sentiment would come into Everton’s thinking, they are well aware how popular he is with Evertonians and they would play on that imo.

As much as I like him I feel it is time to move on from the likes of him, DCL etc.

That bar - a lot of that is the current loan market, and the type we can attract from that market. There's a reason Danjuma, an Lindstrom types are available on loan.

I get the concerns over fitness/injuries, which is why the arrangement would have to go some way to mitigate that, such as loan.

You can pay good money and have a bad injury - Gbamin.

You can pay good money and they're nowhere near good enough - Klaassen.

For me, if we can get 25-30 games from him - which he's managed 7 times from the last 8 seasons, then I think he scores 8-10 goals.

If we can get that player on loan with an option, a player who is 27/wasn't long ago Brazils number 9. A player who would comfortably be our best attacking talent - then no brainer to me.

I just can't see Spurs letting him go for what market value should allow.

Yes, note that I used past tense "started"...
Bebeto "started" for Brazil when fit too. Doesn't mean he would play for them now, or be good for Everton.
Perhaps past tense should have also been used to say he was "clearly class when fit"

Like many, I loved him when he was here. Since then, we can look back and reflect that we ended up getting the better of that deal with Spurs. Personally I see it as a big risk more than a good gamble.

i think i'll depend on whether Spurs win the Europa League, They don't they'll need cash to make up what they will have budgeted for. If they do win it and get CL football they may be more suspectable to clearing the decks for a rebuild. A lot would rest on Richie too. If he wanted the move then he'd need to push for it. There's also the chance a new manager arrives there and he gets a second wind a spurs as a result.

This is a really sensible take on his situation. I would love him back and fit playing for us. I think its unlikely due to all of the reasons outlined.
