2019/20 Richarlison

There was a moment in the middle of the half where Walcott broke with the ball and Richarlison was wide open through the middle, but Theo elected to wait and play Digne in behind him.

However outside of that, he hasn't done much.

He isn't though. If he was played there consistently he'd actually get better at his weak points. But his strengths are finding space to shoot, attacking crosses and finishing. That's striker skills.

Hes a forward, not a number 9, for me anyway, he simply cant lead a line.

He can score goals, but thats not as important for a team.

He led the line fine against Spurs and West Ham. Those were good performances even though he didn't score. Better performances than what we've seen today. If we are going to use him as a wide player it can't be in this system.

Hes totally ineffective today, I think thats why he sulks.
The things he's good at happen within the width of the box. We are forcing all his touches outside of that area. It's pretty poor management. And although Tosun has been fine today there is no reason to play him over Richarlison up top imo.

Yeah I didnt mean he plays at 10, I just meant its the way to give him a free role.
But that kind of pushes us into 4-4-2 territory and I just really think we need to do something that doesn't force more of our chance creation out wide. I mean Digne is hitting about one decent cross in 15 right now and we are still force feeding him the ball. To me the solution is either Richarlison at striker or to switch to a 4-3-3 and have him play narrow off a wing. The problem is we have no midfielders to play 4-3-3 currently.
