Revised positions and/or formation

if that were to ever happen, i would be happier with jags in the middle of a back 3 pushing heitinga more to the right handside and distin more to the left. Heitinga doesn't look as comfortable on the ball as jags in my opinion so every pass he played would prob be a 60 yard hoof, i think jags has the ability to be a football playing centre back and could carry the ball out of the defence calmly and link up play with the midfield instead of bypassing it all the time with hoofing the ball in the air.

this was in reply to jamo martinez post by the way ha ha
Never seen anything to suggest Jags could do that.

Or were you being sarcastic?

Pretty sure you've got Jags and Heitinga mixed up? Jagielka hoofs it every game, Jonny looks to play it.

Howard
Coleman - Jagielka - Heitinga - Baines
Fellaini - Rodwell
Drenthe - Barkley - Gueye
Vellios

We would have steel in the middle, pace on the flanks and both wingers are good at cutting inside leaving space for Coleman and Baines to bomb foward. Barkley will have the room and freedom to just play and Vellios should get lots of service.

your probably right but i seriously just don't rate heitinga very highly,, possibly just a reaction to watching some of his early games for us when i thought he was woefull.

not a fan of 3-5-2, here's a formation that might be a bit out there for you crazy cats

4-4-2 anyone

Howard

Coleman Jags Heitinga Baines

Barkley Rodwell Fellaini Drenthe

Saha Velios

The problem with starting Jags, Distin and Heitinga in a back 3 type things is that if the opposition plays advanced wingers and full backs you get ripped to shreds in the wide areas.

4-3-3..

Howard
Coleman, Jags, Jonny, Baines
Barkley, Felli, Rodders
Saha/Straqua-man/McAleny/Hope/ any other striker young enough and good enough currently in the fold, Vellios, Drenthe

Simples

The problem we have is that we hoof too much from the back and lose the ball, strikers hate that unless you're Crouch, we need to pass the ball on the ground through midfield and then put through balls to our strikers, which we haven't done in ages, all we do now is cross the ball into the box from out wide and if the are playing a tall team like Stoke then pretty hard in getting goals from that.
We never put through balls in for our strikers...well striker, instead we do as above or try walk the ball into the box. Moyes' No shoot out of the area is bollox, simple saying....If you don't shoot, you aint gonna score. The Opposition have probably gotten so used to knowing that we never shoot that if we did start doing it, we'll prob get some good goals. Maybe thats why Drenthe hasn't been playing because Moyes suspended him for shooting outside the box in training and broke his number one rule.
Something needs to change and fast, we are too predictable, Moyes needs to drop his fave players, drop this negative play hoping to hold out for a draw and the 4-5-1 formation. We need two strikers on the field = more chance in scoring. We need to drop the hoofing, if Jags can play it on the ground for England why can't he for us? Cahill should only be used as a sub as he aint cutting it, same goes for Neville, all he does is hoof. Barkley needs to play more games, he's creative and we need that plus he's a great attacking kid who also loves to have a pop at goal, (Hmmm maybe thats why moyes aint playing him lately just like Drenthe) Osman should never play out wide. List goes on and on lol.

Anyway this is if Moyes sticks to one striker rule

Coleman Jagielka Distin Baines
Fellaini Rodwell

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks that the team above could do the business - I had Heitinga instead of Distin as there is more future in him and he is generally a better ball player.

This is what I would play, frankly, if I were manager. Saha needs to be dropped, as well as Cahill and Neville. Saha would be cover for Vellios, while Osman would be cover for any of Drenthe, Barkley, Gueye. I would also have Hibbo as a sub for Coleman if we are up late and want to close out or game, or start him over Coleman if we are going to park the bus and play for a draw against a City, etc. Would also slot in Distan for Heits rather easily as the situation dictates. We would have to have a full training room for Bily to get on the pitch. Same for Straq. If Fells or Rodwell need a blow, I would play Heits up there and slot in Distan in the back.

looks promising why cant the manager see the potential?
:blink::mellow:

I think people seem to be dis- counting Saha far to easily.
Granted his form is not great but vellios has proved he's not ready for starting games. Also as much as Saha is not in form in no way is it all his fault!! When was the time u saw a through ball to Saha to have a one on one?? Fullham? He scored.

The partnership of Cahill and saha ruins both players. Agree with the players most our suggesting. Cahill should be sub or if covering injuries I would use him CM covering either Rodwell or Fellani. Or as impact off the striker as long as that striker is not Saha!
I'd like to see start...

Howard
Coleman jags heitinga Baines
Fellani Rodwell
Drenthe Barkley ossie
Saha

From that u have nev and hibbo to step in for Coleman. Guaye to come in for Barkley (ossie moving inside) Distin for CB. Vellios for Saha. Cahill for a number of possistions.

Ideally we need 3 players in Jan. Holtby and vossen for around 15M to come in for Barkley and Saha. And pienaar or Donovan on loan to come in for ossie.

:blink::mellow:
Because they are too young and promising instead of having had Man Utd experience (Neville, Saha) or ten years at the club (Ossie, Hibbo and Cahill), thus they represent far too much of a risk for Moyes.
You can just imagine him selling Rodwell in January for £15 m. and Carrick

I'm almost erect at the possibilities. It's a shame Moyes is flaccid.

Howard
Coleman Jagielka Heitinga Baines
Fellaini Rodwell
Donovan Barkley Drenthe
Gueye

Possibly with Donovan and Drenthe on opposite sides to give Baines and Coleman space.
