I dont think his heart is in this club. He's never looked settled or part of the team. I doubt he'll be busting a gut to return to action before the World Cup as he wont want to miss out on that chance of a lifetime. I think he'll be pushing for a move before, during and after Russia and a decent tournament will help him in that respect.
I wouldn't be bothered if that played out either. He's not been impressive and he's not someone we can build a team on for the future. He;s mostly a passenger and next season we'll hopefully have a good young manager with a way forward that uses our homegrown talent and starts to beef up our 24-28 year old age group players where we are way short.

You'll be surprised? Genuinely though? He cost £45m so one thing that definitely isn't happening is him getting sold at a massive loss this summer.

Insanely inflated price just like all that Dutch divvy's signings.
Yiu can be sure the club will take a hit on that if the new manager coming in has to sell to buy - which I fully expect. We'll be looking for about £30M-£35M for him if he has a decent showing in Russia.
Gutted about this, we need all our players fit.

Mate, I was his biggest fan about two seasons ago and thought he could come here and add that bit of sparkle that could push us on from also rans to European football contenders again.
I honestly just dont see it now. He's underwhelming. He might be struggling under the weight of the fee, I dont know. But I bet if he was offered a chance to leave to a decent club though he'd take it with both hands, and I;d be happy to see him leave.
IMO, he's not a good fit for us or how we want to (hopefully) go in the near future under the new boss.
