Remember this point of the season.

We're gash. The squad is gash. Sam would rather us not lose than go out all guns blazing and more than likely lose...which has happened for most of the games we've done that under 3 different managers this season.

That's a reflection on the team who are incapable of defending and attacking as a unit.

Kendall in his pomp wouldn't be able to get a tune out of this lot.

I hope the fans start turning on Allardyce now. Because our small-thinking board will be more than happy with him just keeping us afloat in the Premier League to guarantee that TV money otherwise. Nobody wanted him, the board made probably the worst decision in our history employing him, and we could very likely pay for it with our Premier League status.

All guns blazing? When did we last do that?

This might seem a bit pedantic; but seeing as you are using that game as a reference point, it was Wolfsburg 0, Everton 2. And we got battered in that game in every statistical facet barring the actual scoreline. And funnily enough, that particular game was a very un-Martinez like performance - we had significantly less possession, yet were the more ruthless side on the counter, and that day we were defensively resolute.

5 shots in the 'on target' column, sigh....

There is a bit of a chicken and egg thing regarding Allardyce.

A lot of folk thought we weren't in a relegation battle to warrant appointing a relegation fighting specialist.

Then we tightened up defensively and went on a bit of a run, only to see old failings return quite rapidly.

Paradoxically, does that make Allardyce more or less suited to adapting and getting more fight from the players to ensure safety?

Because let's face it, we have a squad that loses what little character and spirit it has at the first sign of trouble in a game. If it has any to begin with.

Lack of character, lack of fight, lack of balance, lack of quality.

I think there is near universal agreement with Allardyce to some degree - nobody at all here would have chosen him in ideal circumstances.

But his appointment reflects the times and circumstances at Everton - we can hope its a relatively short-lived stay but there is a distinct need to look upstairs when blame is being apportioned.

Untrue. 29.3% winning rate in the league in his 2nd and 3rd season. That’s why he was sacked. We lost to the like in West Ham and Stoke at home for fun. Entertainer. History cannot be rewritten.
I think a lot of people are missing my original point here, the post was aimed at the fans who after a couple of wins regardless of how we won start stating “can we make Europe etc...

My point being no matter what the next few weeks/months bring results wise, this guy should not remain at Everton come the 1st May, as we will never get anywhere near the top 6 whilst this guy is in charge, he simply has one way of playing and that’s it.

Football has moved on so much since he managed a team mid table (BOLTON)

Hate to say it but that game yesterday, we are miles away from that.
