Remaining games for the run: 4th/5th/6th or?

Nice idea in theory, but it does assume that we'd be able to stay where we are in the league and not fall behind other clubs that spend the money on team improvements. It's a difficult balancing act between team improvements and club improvements.
 
Spend the money, improve the team, attract heavy pursed investors.

I also believe in the easter bunny, but nice in thought, after all, we are the 25th most valuable club in the world now :) :) :) :)
 
Ok in my mind there are 5 teams going for 3 Uefa cup places and there run ins are as follows:

Spurs
May
Mon, 7th A Charlton (PREM.) - DRAW

Thu, 10th H Blackburn (PREM.) - LOSS

Sun, 13th H Man City (PREM.) - WIN

4 points, final total- 57 points

Pompey
May
Sat, 5th A Everton (PREM.) - LOSS

Sun, 13th H Arsenal (PREM.) - LOSS

0 Points, final total - 53 points

Reading
May
Sat, 5th H Watford (PREM.) - WIN

Sun, 13th A Blackburn (PREM.) - LOSS

3 points, final total - 57 Points

Blue Boys
May
Sat, 5th H Portsmouth (PREM.) - WIN

Sun, 13th A Chelsea (PREM.) - DRAW

4 points, final total - 58 points

Bolton
May
Sat, 5th A West Ham (PREM.) - LOSS

Sun, 13th H Aston Villa (PREM.) - WIN

3 points, final total - 58 points

Now Ive done this honestly and guessed what the result would be so the final UEFA cup spots would go:

9th Pompey - 53 points
8th Spurs - 57 Points
7th Reading - 57 Points (7th on GD)
6th Bolton - 58 Points
5th Blue Noses - 58 points (5th on GD)

So bring it on thats what I say, 5th is ours all the way!!!!
 
On the plus side it's likely that the title will be over by the time Chelsea play us. Hopefully they'll beat Liverpool tonight and feel fit to rest 7 players against us for their two finals ;)
 

Still so many twists and turns to come before the end of the season, you didn't even mention Bl'burn Mick, you have them winning against Spurs and Reading but they also have another game, they could end up with 56 points.
As long as we beat Pompy we are guaranteed 8th and the inter-toto at the least.
A top 7 should be ours but it's too close to call.

The most Blackburn can get is 56 and in my league that would get them to 9th- not a problem to us because we are going to get 5th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
If we beat Pompy, which i'm sure we will as the lads will give everything they've got and then some, then i'll start believing that 5th could be ours, at the moment if someone offered me 7th place i would rip their hand off, getting back into europe is all that matters.

Yep it is like asking if there is any more tea in the pot and being told there is the dregs.

We need at least 4 points from the last 2 games. But we seem to have embarked on our usual end of season flurry.

I am still somewhat pissed off at the west ham game, it could have been made a lot easier there.
 
I believe I'll be getting some stick for this, but to be honest, I don't really like the idea of us getting into europe and buying average players just to bolster squad number. We may end up getting more davies and kilbane on board than we really need to.
Our transfer budget isn't that big and if we stretch that fund to acquire 3 to 5players I very much doubt there will be any quality in them. Even lesccot cost us close to 5 million and I really don't see us improving our squad if we buy just for the sake of buying. And we can kiss goodbye to fernandes if moyes choose quantity over quality. Let's hope he choose quality instead.
