I just can’t see that happening, we suddenly start playing football and Leicester forget?

I’d be utterly amazed if we get anything from Leicester
Leicester play twice before us, Thursday in Holland and then Sunday at Newcastle before traveling to us on Tuesday

Just playing devil's advocate, that's pretty much same kind of week we'd faced before the United game on Saturday. I still believe we'll get something out of the game, but, I wouldn't read too much into Leicester being tired.

But they also have nothing to play for in the league. They’ve no chance of finishing higher than 8th but are safe.

Tired legs feel a lot more heavy when you’ve got nothing to run for.

It's all ifs and buts. Until the games are done we won't know.

But looking at the stats so far, Burnley are on 0.8 points per game. If they continue like this they get 6.4 points by the end of the season putting them on 30-31 points. If they lose their next game and we win ours that could even be enough. It would heap even more pressure on Burnley.

The thing is, there's 24 points to play with, and in theory, both teams could win or lose every game!

Let's hope so, but, you also have to factor in the facts that they are a better team than us and we will be under tremendous pressure, especially should Burnley get something at West Ham. We have seen n the past how this team can fold under pressure.

They’ve won four games lol

Your posts here are a perfect example of skewed perspective, ignoring context only on one side of the argument.

The idea that a team who’ve won four all season and just lost to Norwich can “easily win four games” is bonkers.

The only game they’ve won recently is at home to a team with the worst away record in the league.
Not to mention they scored 3 goals in 6 games and all 3 where against us. Meaning they failed to score in 5 out of 6 games

They did. Their overall performance was abysmal. They really are a truly shocking team.

TBH, when they sold Wood in January they looked like a team preparing for the Championship. The only reason why they aren't in a completely hopeless position is because we've failed to build on our big wins against Leeds and then Newcastle since Lampard arrived. Not building on the United vistory will just encourage them to stay in the race though, so we have to treat the Leicester game like it's our last chance to get points. If we can slam the door in Burnley's face with a win against Leicester they just might fall apart. I think they will too.
Hang on a minute, you had Burnley getting about 17 points a game for the rest of the season 5mins ago.

We are their 4th game in 9 days where we had a 10 day off. Then this is Everton

Honestly, Burnley have proven they can dig in and win games. They've beaten Spurs and us at home in 2022, and won 3 nil away to Brighton. They also drew against Arsenal and United, and narrowly lost to Liverpool 1 nil.

Their game against West Ham is a huge one, as they could very well bounce back from the Norwich defeat against a side who play Lyon two days prior.

The 'best' team that they face before the end of the season is Spurs, so we know their on-paper fixtures are favourable versus ours.

I think it's incredibly naive to write them off at this stage. It doesn't matter to me how many they have won this season, this is a relegation fight where form goes out of the window. For me, they can easily win 4 more games, possibly even 5. They've actually only lost by more than two goals once this whole season, compared to our five times.

Who would have thought Newcastle would have won on that incredible streak over the past few months? If shows that anything is possible.

We are 100% still relying on the crowd to pull us through this, and I probably still make us likely to go down due to our respective fixtures.

I agree we are not safe yet and we are relying on our crowd for our own fixtures but your assessment of Burnley is not in line with the rest of your sensible points regarding us.

They've won 4 games in 30. You mention their fixture list...they just faced bottom of the league after a huge win Vs us and lost.

Burnley are a terrible side and struggle to win games. They also tend to lose slightly more than they draw.

I could see them going on a run of being harder to beat but mostly achieving draws which won't help them enough. I reckon at best they'll get 12 points from their last 24. Meaning we need 3 wins, or 2 wins and 3 draws to guarantee safety. But I'm hoping it will be less needed than that.

If Burnley only win 2, and draw say 4. Only gives them 34 and we need 7 points for guaranteed safety.

Just looking at Leicester's fixtures,

They have to play PSV AWAY on Thursday, Newcastle AWAY on Sunday, then us AWAY on Weds...that is some task for any team that amount of travelling.

Hopefully it works to our advantage

I'm not making that case mister, I'm merely stating it's an incredibly precarious situation still and literally one or two fixtures can swing it 100% again. Burnley have experience in successfully fighting relegation, we massively buckle under pressure.

Look, I desperately hope we stay up, and that victory against United was just the tonic we needed - but there can be many twists and turns yet. This cannot go down to the final day because, despite them being terrible, there is no way we go to Arsenal and win.

No more Keane/Holgate or Jonjoe Kenny-shaped experiments please - stick with this xi and continue.

Let's win a minimum 3 home games and stay undefeated in 2 away games, and it's job done.
You are the most negative poster on here. Which takes some doing.. It's worst case scenario in every situation. If you got a nosh off Margot Robbie you would complain about her shade of lipstick

Historically we are not great at seizing the advantage when it's presented to us.
In fact, I'm almost certain the phrase "Everton that" originates as a direct result of us consistently losing from advantageous positions...

Oh Dave.

You flapped it after Burnley, you cant be coming here now acting like everything is ok.
If you read that post and thiught I was saying everything is ok you didn't read it properly.

I've been saying since the United win that we've had these false dawns before. That's why we need 3 points and no less against Leicester.

The downside of this is that you can imagine them going full strength at PSV, resting players on the Sunday at Newcastle, then full strength again at Goodison. I think it will be a tougher game than the one against Man U but we can still beat a full strength Leicester at home, although not a gven.
