sorry, the who?
I know we're sh*t. At least you have something to be happy about.
sorry, the who?
Sod that, where's the goose that lays golden eggs? Are we a sleeping giant? Has someone checked it's pulse? Can we get a wellness check pls
Dave we haven't been a football super power for decades, had some seasons where we were on the fringes of success but look at Southampton and Leceister , Southampton was placed in 6th and 7th couple of years back , with leciester they have attained significantly more in recent years then we have (league title, FA cup) and both are on the verge of relegation due to lack of consistency. Even though Everton's history is vastly superior it was over thirty years ago when we were winning titles , young upcoming fans in search of a club aren't impressed by those ancient achievements that occurred when they just born or before then. Younger fans are focused on recent accomplishments, reputation and team play not on nostalgia, I'd say on a worldwide scale due to massive ineptitude in properly building our brand , Brighton is poised to expand the club's profile to a larger extent than Everton could ever conceive. We basically have to engage in a rebirth to even have a chance to be competitive once again and that involves purging kenwright and moshiriWell, if the 'Big Six' represents finishing positions in the PL then we've been Big Six six times in that league....probably more than any other team outside of the Big Six.
I wouldn't call us a nothing club in any way. It's simply not appropriate for a team with Everton's history, its fan base and - soon - its stadium.
If there's any club that correctly fits the bill 'sleeping giant' it's this one.
Thefre's a difference between saying we haven't been a superpower for dcades and calling us a nothing club.Dave we haven't been a football super power for decades, had some seasons where we were on the fringes of success but look at Southampton and Leceister , Southampton was placed in 6th and 7th couple of years back , with leciester they have attained significantly more in recent years then we have (league title, FA cup) and both are on the verge of relegation due to lack of consistency. The only way to acquire the consistency to prevent arriving at the same fate of other teams outside the aristocratic Six that faded when briefly reaching success, is establishing a proper institutional framework (competent business and financial management endeavors, proper recruitment regarding managers and playera along with a robust youth system that is able to generate longterm feasibility. The culture needs to change to evolve otherwise its inevitable we will go extinct or end up in league 1 with Wigan
Agreed but the next two games and who operates the club for the foreseeable future could greatly increase the possibility of us eventually becoming a nothing club. We're not immune even with a passionate devoted fan base and an once illustrious historyThefre's a difference between saying we haven't been a superpower for dcades and calling us a nothing club.
Yes, fair enough. This got me thinking, so just checked.
Outside the 'Big Six' it's the following in Prem era
Villa - 9 Top Six finishes
Newcastle 8
Everton, Leeds 7
Blackburn 6
Leicester 3
West Ham 2
Southampton, Bolton, Ipswich, Forest, Wimbledon, Norwich, QPR 1
I'll deal with that problem when or if it arises.Agreed but the next two games and who operates the club for the foreseeable future could greatly increase the possibility of us eventually becoming a nothing club. ATM we are a club with a billionaire owner about to go into a state of the art 53K stadium and we have an unbroken seven decades existence in the top flight of English football.
To read what some others claim you'd think we were Burscough Town.
Half of them are Kopites and the other half are self-hating Evertonians...I dont know which is worse.
Was watching the Europa league final last season, chatting with some German Frankfurt fans, told them I was an Everton fan and they thought we were just some small club in Liverpool's shadow. When I told them between 84-87 we were the best team in England they didn't believe me lolIt's not the kids on social media at all, it's pretty much all casual. Love it or hate it, only actual fans (as in, football fanatics) know where we're from and who we are and what we've achieved.
As I said - this is the experience you get for the most part, and it's sadly what happens when you've won nothing and competed for nothing for the last almost 30 years. Was watching the Europa league final last season, chatting with some German Frankfurt fans, told them I was an Everton fan and they thought we were just some small club in Liverpool's shadow. Good times. As I said - this is the experience you get for the most part, and it's sadly what happens when you've won nothing and competed for nothing for the last almost 30 years.
Over our history we've had a fair bit of rivalry with wolves. Similar sized clubs for a while although our honours list is much better.Weird that, I don't mind Wolves - or should I say I'm indifferent to them. Don't think we've had any resemblance of rivalry with them? I thought they'd be wanting Leicester buried sooner than us. I guess it is more down to the size and history of Everton for novelty factor to see us go down, plus the weird obsession other fans have of hating scousers.
The decline of this club, and many like it before is down to what the 'Premiership' has become.settling for mid table being a good season was the start of the decline of this club,
which coincided with the arrival of the current chairman.
Woah, hang on pal, can we leave the mighty Linnets out of this?!To read what some others claim you'd think we were Burscough Town.
