The mad thing if we got Dyche in before the World Cup. We probably would be more or less safe now. We wouldn’t have thrown away leads at home to Wolves and Southampton.
Yep, just highlights the utter incompetence of our board. Look at Villa, they did what we failed to do, and they're all but safe already when they were dead on to be in a relegation fight. Those two Bournemouth defeats, how on earth he wasn't fired there and then is still insane, and we might yet go down because of it. No guarantee the current points per game will continue and we don't have a God given right to stay in this division.

Leicester are a little bit like us too. Rodgers has been under pressure virtually the entire season and has had his job questioned for months now, and they are seemingly getting worse now while other teams are improving.

It is true (the no shots on target thing) but that is largely due to the way Vieira has set us up. We have been 12th for weeks and weeks. The gap is being eroded and I fully expect us to lose our next two games. After that, we play no one that is currently above us. I keep hearing this “I’ve been saying for weeks that Palace are in trouble but they don’t realise it.” Do you not think that they look at league tables? Basically, people are looking at the same tables and saying “Blimey, I didn’t realise Palace were in trouble”. Don’t fret, we know.

Personally I’m confident you’re aware as , and I’ve said a few times,a palace season ticket holder predicted to me this very run of results in January . Other than us you’re the team I’d like to survive for a host of reasons but my worry for you is these kind of runs often need a spark to break them and cliche or not teams can forget how to win.

Exactly as you say though once you’re into April it’s where you’ll see what’s what but I think it’ll be tough . My providing it doesn’t impact us I could only wish you , albeit qualified, good luck .

I agree with you. Our first critical game is April 1, home to Leicester. Lose that and I will be thinking we’re going.
With a son and grandson Blues and having taken my lad many many times to Goodison and away I hope that you survive comfortably.

Hmm, I kind of think of it a bit differently. The team has been fighting out games under a more brutal and demanding coach that leaves them running more and with more tired legs. If we can pull of a good result against Chelsea, combined with recent ones it leaves the players in a good positive mood. Then, for several weeks they can forget the stench of much of this season and just dwell in that, while Dyche gets more time to train and equip them.

At the same time we have less players on international duty, so we get more rest compared to some of our upcoming opponents.
Oh trust me, I get the fact that the lads could do with a break, they've been running themselves ragged recently ( not that dyche will give them much of a break tho ) I just don't like to break a momentum.
These are desperate times and you don't want to see them coming back having to rebuild that momentum.

It's just my own personnel thinking tho.
I don't like playing on a Friday and then not til the following Monday against a team that's maybe also had a midweek game.

Atleast first game back is under the lights at goodison tho.

3/4 weeks ago I thought Palace would be absolutely fine. They have some talent in that attacking line up (perhaps still a little raw as players though @Alan Whittle).

Here we are now and they're bottom of the form table, right in the mix now for relegation. I still expect them to be fine like, but feels crazy that they're even involved.

Which is odd because I'd have been putting Leicester in the same category as you. They've more than enough talent to score the goals to keep them away from the trouble and yet find themselves even worse off.

It does feel like every time we've had a break we've gone in thinking it's what we need but come out of it playing worse. Especially after the world cup break. I wonder if that just speaks volumes about the standard of coaching we've had though. Dyche has a more clear thought of what he wants to do so a couple of extra weeks to drill them in it is probably welcome.

We have picked up almost 50% of available points since Dyche has come in, with 71% of those matches against teams not in the relegation fight!

With only 63% of our remaining fixtures against teams not in the relegation scrap, surely we can still aim to amass minimum 50% of available points leaving us on a tally of 41points or better.

Regardless of what other teams around us do…. It’s simple maths…..
When you put it like that.......

I like it.

The Dychonian era is certainly proving more profitable than the Lampardian era, so let's hope that continues another few months and hopefully we can dream of a nice future where we improve next season and then move into BMD as a Premier League team. That, for me, should act as the rebirth of Everton Football Club.
