For a time we had Arteta, Pienaar, Baines, Osman (even if he was weak as piss). Guys with football ability. Now our big star is...?
We don’t have one….I’m in agreement with you - we have been generally irrelevant for a generations even for those three or four years, when the most we achieved was fifth or sixth with those players…..but these periods have been interspersed with places anywhere from those positions to bottom half. Given our (now becoming more and more distant) past, those years are still poor. We are essentially seeing the Blackpool and Prestonisation of Everton. Clubs that used to win pots and get to finals now just also ran clubs and whilst we have a bigger demographic to go at, even that is shrinking because the corridor between Liverpool and Manchester now has three teams to support who have a chance of being successful, and in the city I see the kids wearing RS tops but barely any tops of ours. It always makes me sad a little when they talk about the blue half of the city, the reality is it’s more like the blue third…..even our own consultation highlighted the number of RS to houses in one of their reports. Are we going down? I don’t know…..but we die a little more every season. The only way we get out of this, is a rich, benevolent benefactor with business sense, and even then we are most likely just going to ensure the margins do not get wider…..there is now very little chance we close the gap……rant over.

Dubious pen to Villa, and we didn't convert.

Villa were lucky. Very lucky.

If we're as competitive for the remainder of fixtures then we'll get out of this.
The trouble is, we simply do not look like scoring. Since Christmas, we've scored six goals in nine games - one penalty, three from set pieces, and two have been the result of individual brilliance. Apart from not having players who can score, we don't create chances. I pray that we will be safe but it looks to me like a very uphill task, given that we've already played most of the teams around us.

No, it's not.

That's what a large number of people here are very happy to accept happening. Some of them have reasoned that it'll act as a rebirth for us.

They are completely out of whack with the way any supporter should be thinking - especially as we are 3 points off 14th spot.

Name names or it’s just nonsense

I’m not reading any posts in this thread or others suggesting this

Which indicates you are making up stuff

I don’t think that’s wholly true under Dyche.

We created decent chances against Arsenal and Leeds , could have scored a couple at anfield tbf and definitely should have had at least 1 today.

Obviously ever team has a better attack than us but I’m not sure Forest have a better squad than us or even Wolves, Palace or West Ham overall to be honest, I bet if we went on their forums after a defeat they’d say they’re all crap.

What I do think we have is the right manager for the situation at least.

Wolves started at the foot of the league and have just really settled. They've got quality across the pitch to push up the league.

West Ham are just in a funk with again enough quality to get out. Banging in 4 today eases the nerves for them. The same if we'd have won today...it just releases pressure.

Palace have ridiculous attacking talent but Viera somehow can't get them scoring. But they have enough to be okay.

When I see Forest they always look a threat but lack real quality. But compared to the bottom 4...have enough IMO.

I will say out of the bottom 4 we look the most solid as a unit. We just have the worst attack in the league which isn't Lampard or Dyche's fault but 100% the board and DoF.

That will be our downfall.
