I think plenty of our fans need a reality check as to the level of these players. We’ve overhyped our own players for years, there’s a reason barely any of them are of interest to anyone.
Even iwobi has been pretty underwhelming lately and I praised his earlier performances I think it would be asinine to offer him a new contract

Given his injury record Im happy to get a replacement but I’d rather have him fit as well, the more players who we can have who can score the better

Any games he’s fit for are a bonus as he can be effective off the bench, but we can no longer be planning assuming that he’s going to come back into the first team and play regularly. We need to be building a team that doesn’t include him.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think they're great either. I just don't think it's a bottom 5 squad nevermind bottom 3. Honestly thought we'd be anywhere from 10th to 14th this season not another relegation scrap but shows what I know, obviously.

I honestly look at clubs around us and in the bottom half esp and think Everton players aren't really any better. Maybe the piss me off so often im biased against them.

I stayed out of the iwobi thread for a while as i found it rather cringe. His performances upped a level no doubt about it. But considering where his level was coming from. You would have thought he was zidane reading some of the comments. When the truth is he still wouldnt get a regular game for most teams. Still no decent final delivery. Still not going past anyone. He upped his effort in games.
If he gets a new contract on 100k a week just lock the gates and cease to exist. Nobody at this club seems to ever make good decisions.

Our goals conceded is only beaten by the top 3, the RS and Chelsea.

At the start of the season there was certainly resilience and clean sheets or just one goal conceded against some pretty good team. However in recent times it's back to conceding 2s and 3s v likes of Bournemouth, Wolves and Leicester.

Not sure what the issue is given I've generally been happy with what I've seen from Tarks-Coady. Patterson injured was a blow but I don't quite think Coleman in his games was as bad as many of his starts last season.

Think it's more a midfield that dosen't score, creates very little and dosen't provide enough of a shield at key moments in games. Given Lampard is wedded to Gana-Onana-Iwobi going to have to wait for the next manager to tweak things there, would certainly be giving Garner some starts whenever he's fit.

When I think of turning points in a season I think back to that Man. United home game. Had just won v West Ham and Southampton, lead after five minutes with Goodison rocking and about to go above RS in the league and then a past it/on strike Ronaldo outpaced the backline from halfway line to score the winner.

In terms of balloon bursting results in a season that was quite significant as the form has been terrible since then and mostly played bottom half teams.

We don’t, we need a replacement for him. He isn’t going to stay fit, he’s finished.
I seen a stat on another forum about him, seem from the moment Christian Erickson died, he has been brought back to life, fitted with an ICD, recovered, regained his fitness, got back into a squad, signed for two clubs, and in time period he has played more minutes than DCL.
Over the last 20 months, someone who died in June 2021 has played more football

I think this is the year it finally happens. We got ever so lucky last season but I just can't see it happening again this time around. There isn't one team worse then us in the whole league, let alone three. We've lost our talisman that ran himself into the ground for us in Richarlison and the usless wasters we have left look defeated every single time they take to the field. We can't say that we don't deserve this. We're run like a championship club, we have bog standard championship level players, a championship level manager, a none league level board and an enthusiastic amateur level fool for an owner. Its a recipe for disaster. Frankly if we do go down then we'll be lucky if we don't find ourselves in another relegation battle just to stay in the championship.

Sums it up very well unfortunately.

Is there anyone who actually thinks we'll stay up? I'd love to hear from you if so...

It really does feel like it's our time to finally go. It's sickening.

Leeds getting beat at least.

Theoretically we're one of 8 teams (up to Leicester) who could take the drop. But the form guide probably has us about one in four teams fighting it out to survive.

That said: how many of those 7 teams around us have been playing with no attackers all season?

If we can get a couple of attackers in we could get well clear of this mess.

I dont care who we have to sell to get them in, but just do it.

Going to be in it again this season just have to hope we can create space from the bottom 3 and not leave it as late as last season.

Only problem with this idea is that the last 3 league games we have got beaten by teams below us.

Thankfully Frank is eliminating this issue as he will have us bottom soon.

He just needs more time.

You can offer new contracts in a smart way though such as relegation clauses that reduce salary or release clauses that encourage buyers

This is Everton though mate. We'll prob end up with a player in the championship on 100k a week with no clauses.
Everton dont tend to do smart.

It has a very inevitable feel about it right now ..... fans ( myself included ) are much more resigned to it.
Sad because there are still 20 odd matches to go but I don't think we have the fight / ability / goals / belief in us to turn it around. Hope to be wrong but we need a massive signing / uptick in form / something ? Club can't be counting on rallys or bus welcomes to get them up .... bottom line is show some bottle, step up and be counted. Crowd will get behind you but the players and management have to show some spirit, effort and execution !
