Referee for Middlesborough

Mason has a lot of "previous" with us going back to the WBA home game 7/8 years ago at Goodison when he sent Arteta off,he is one that appears to revel in "winding" us up over those years, not surprised at all with that ridiculous decision for Boro's goal, but what gets me is these spineless assistant referees who stand there doing nothing.

Sitting in the top balcony I remember Baines getting taken out by a terrible tackle and that incompetent idiot not seeing it, then seconds later Arteta took someone out and it was a red. Would never have happened if he'd been doing his job. Some refs are dodgy, I don't think he is, just absolutely shocking at his job.

It is a sad reflection on those who run football that they consider this man to be capable of refereeing a top flight game............

Having got up very early (2.30) this morning to drive fly bus so as to see Everton FC playing Middlesbrough FC I was horrified at the performance of this referee.

I hope he takes something from the excoriation that has been sent upon his performance - I have had texts from Ireland, UK and Switzerland - to somehow realise that just because it is a live TV match does NOT mean it is all about the referee.

A really good ref is anonymous.

45 years of going to games at all sorts of levels but today really was poor.

Thankfully, we recovered and got the three points.

I watched it on the telly and the standard of punditry was just as bad. According to Hoddle, Macmanaman and Howard Webb it was somehow the keepers fault that he was fouled for the way he caught the ball. It took Paul Ince, of all people, to start talking some sense at half time...

Just watched MOTD and of course whatever mistake he made for their goal our first shouldn't have stood either.

Very tired and going to bed!!

Talk tomorrow!!

Baines was nearly decapitated by the West Brom full back - in the box. We were losing 2-1 at the time so no doubt this idiot thought we were fooling him. I still remember it as one of the worst refereeing decisions ever. 10 seconds later Arteta mowed through the assailant and got a red card - we lost 4-1 and Cahill joined him in the early bath. A West Brom player got a 2nd yellow late on but it no use..

This guy is uniformly awful.. Arsenal away - Saha miles offside and then the Arsenal goal was a foul (I think or maybe also offside). 3 pens at Blackburn - all mysteries.. and some people actually think he's decent!

He was horrific yesterday. The only redeeming part of his performance was that he was consistently inconsistent. I remember him whistling back a potentially dangerous counter attack for a previous fault. And Williams' foot was a bit high for our first goal as well. But he had made his biggest blunder by then so he couldn't deny us that equalizer.
But I cannot comprehend that this man is a ref in the PL.

Knew he messed up for their goal and was considerably less of a tit after the good arl fashioned "Goodison Snarl" made its return

Horrific ref though, and we're lucky his ineptitude didn't cost us any points
Yeah, strange how many free kicks we started to get after that.

I reckon he would've rustled us up a penalty from somewhere if we'd needed it. Terrible refereeing - and he knew it.

But it got the crowd and the team going. So not all bad.

....makes you wonder how the referee assessor scores him. We had him a few seasons ago at home against Stoke when he failed to send a defender off for a foul when he was the last man and denied a clear run on goal. He then went on to give Stoke a late penalty to win the game.

You could see from the PE that Stek had been fouled as he clearly had the ball in his hands.

Quite how Mason couldn't see that from 12 yards away is anyone's guess

A quite awful referee, doesn't understand the game.
