Realistically, how low can we fall?

Plenty of teams have fallen from grace with better, more stable leadership than we currently have at Everton. I realise that our current league position belies talk of imminent relegation but I honestly believe we will be in a bottom 6 dogfight at the end of the season. Anyone who watches football at any level could recognise the warning signs at Goodison. Nobody to score goals and if there was there's no-one with the creativity to supply them from midfield. The defence is shaky and injury ravaged. The squad is getting older and seems to be losing it's will to fight any more.

Can we slip out of the Premiership and drag ourselves back in within 12 months? A quick look at other club with similar stature and history to Everton (Leeds and Sheff Wed) and lesser clubs with solid fanbases like Sheff Utd, Portsmouth, Charlton would suggest that once you're down, you're down for the forseeable. Would we double dip and find ourselves in League 1 in a few years? Nice local derby down at Prenton Park?

This is not hysteria. Just something added to the argument to say it's not too late, we can still turn this around and avoid the apocolypse, the nightmare scenario. Something's gotta give in the next six months though - and I suspect it will need to be big. A new owner, a new manager or a new division to play in next season.

What's it going to be?

after bolton loss i realized that anything is possible.

like i said like months ago

-----------> JANUARY TRANSFERWINDOW is extremely important

(board should show some ambition now, otherwise our apocalyptic fears could materialize)

We won't be relegated or in a fight this season. I'm also waiting for feb 1st to give a final assessment for this season. As a few shrewd purchases from moyes could change alot this year!

If nothing is forthcoming in Jan or the summer and we perhaps loose players in the summer and maybe even moyes next season could be the end!

If things dont change it could be this season or next for me.
The belief, confidence, spirit and will to win has gone coupled with our injuries i honestly think we will go this year.
The marker for me was being outplayed by bolton we are in trouble

Relegation within 3 seasons if things carry on as they are. I'm with Tubey on this one now. And we won't bounce back in a hurry, either.

ffs. I would seriously love to know what is going through kenwrights head. How can he continually do this, it makes me cry.

No chance of us going down this year. "Too good to go down" doesn't sound right, though, seeing as we've played well in barely any games this year. Our squad is probably too good to go down though. 13th at the very, very worst.

However, in the long-term, we could be in for some relegation scraps and with that always comes the risk of relegation. I have to say that'd be too much for me. The shame of it. No Everton fan is old enough to remember a relegation and everyone LOVES to see a big club go down. Including ourselves, football fans are unbelievably cruel. I fear we don't have the financial clout to come straight back up or back up at all, either.

On the subject of the shame and embarassment and humiliation of going down, here's what happens to other sets of fans of big clubs when they go down:

Imagine the abuse from all your kopite mates to which you can have absolutely no reply. Sounds a bit weak but my pride couldn't take it to be honest.
