Realistically, how low can we fall?

I don't think we'll be involved in a relegation scrap this year, but there are some worrying tendencies. Would you expect this team to suddenly find some passion and fight to stay up if we did drop into the last 3?

A relegation fight isn't far off, I'm certainly not seeing it as a fantasy, but I don't think it will be this year..

We're fortunate this season in that however badly we may be playing at present, there are at least five teams in the Premier League worse than we are.

Whether we have the fight for the battle should we slip further down the table I don't know. I would hope that the team spirit and unity which is evident would shine through. Realistically though, I'm confident we'll be fine this season however we're not going to achieve much more than mid table.

Given the resources and the lack of capacity to spend, Mid table will be a fine achievement. It's not going to appease the majority of the fans who expect more; but honestly, without a huge financial investment I don't think much more is attainable at the moment.

Next year? No-one knows, but let's at least try some positivity as a fanbase.

If we were going to go down we'd all be panicking and going mental. As it stands we're all just depressed and bored.

3 out of this bunch for me to-go down Wigan,Bolton,Swansea,Norwich,Qpr,Blackburn and Wolves

We have a good defence record but as always our lack of goals is worrying

We won't go down this year. We will survive but be comfortably bottom half the next year. Then we will go down the year after.

We are too stable for a sudden collapse but we began rolling down a hill last season and the momentum will continue to generate until we reach the bottom.

So basically, under Kenwright we won't be in this division within three seasons.

We play well against the big teams and lose, and against the small teams we play awful - and its luck if we win or not...lucky if we get anything above 12th, wouldnt be surprised if we finished 15th-16th

Yeah pretty much what tubey said, this season Mid table next season bottom season after very feckin worried. we need investment drastically. our money players will be sold and we will have to rely on the kids. how sad is that.

I think the warning signs are very very bad.

Comprehensively beaten by all the good sides (in every game)
Lacking creativity
No one to put the ball in the net
Large number of injuries (maybe some are crying off)
No signs of any money for purchases - not to mention bad signals from the board
Manager (has good reason to be be) hacked off

Positives: I think we've got enough points in the bag to stave off relegation this year (just about) - our away form is decent-ish & 7 wins against the lesser sides gives some encouragement.
Next season - if we don't freshen the squad up (and/or) lose Moyes to some so-so manager & no one buys us we're prime candidates for relegation.

Post relegation: The squad is strong enough (right now) to bounce back. If (inevitably) players were sold we'd have adequate money to replace some of these. I think we'd do a Newcastle and come straight back. After what would be 59 years at the top level that would be pretty awful (not to mention the Gobsh1tes rubbing it in) - anyway that's for another day.

This season's remaining fixtures:
Fortunately whilst we've got some very tough fixtures coming up there are some opportunities to collect a few points:
a). Only Man U away is pretty much a write off, Liverpool away, which may well be re-arranged (it will be if they beat Man City in the Carling Cup) is obviously tough but we'll at least be up for that.
b.) The run in is vital and we should find enough somewhere to get into a decent position - if it continues to be parlous (say only 8 points from 10-11 games) at least the final 3 games are winnable if we get there in a bad way. Each game has a reasonable chance of us collecting some points apart from the Man U one. We might well lose at home to Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, City for example but at least we have half a chance of getting something against them on our ground.

We can go as 14th I think. However I think we will finish 9-11th. One of the few bright spots about this years is unlike last year at least we aren't drawing as much. If you draw every single match you end up with 38 points and finish 17-18th. If you win 1/2 your matches and lose half of them then you end up around 7th. The 3pts a win rule hurts teams with less money big time. It should be at worst 5 for a victory and 2 for a draw.

I don't see relegation this year or next unless there is a fire sale of players.

I understand that our eyes see players going to lesser clubs for transfer fees and Everton aren't bringing in anyone. The Bolton result notwithstanding, we're still head an shoulders above quite a few clubs on the roster.

Sadly, I can't disagree with this. He's strangling the club currently. Every other team in the division is strengthening and ours is weakening, and this will become more telling with each passing year.

Are we all praying that those planks who wanted to do away with relegation a while ago get their way then?
