RB Leipzig

And when you roll over for Bayern to tickle your belly and take El Mala will you still be rooting for them then? Strange lot you Germans. All tradition, zero rationality.
I wouldn't expect you to care about the state of German football. With the game long gone in England, we see it as a cautionary tale. There's more to care about than money or success.

This marketing gag of a club is a perversion of our game. And the people who truly care about it are far and few between. No other club has as high of a no-show rate among season ticket holders.

Please explain the 'all tradition, no rationality' statement. I would really like to hear your thoughts.

You clearly don’t care about the state of German football if you’re okay with Bayern having an +11pt lead and +57 GD after 18 games. You’re all as culpable as each other. Maybe I should start a Hoffenheim thread and you can dig those out as well for financially blasting their way to the BuLi.

I might be too stupid to get your point or we are talking past each other.

As I said, there's more to care about than money or success. The price you'd be willing to pay for a more competitive league at the top is far too steep for most German supporters.

So you’re fine never achieving anything more than being a big boys feeder club because it’s all about tradition? Which is fine, but there’s no moral high ground to be taken there in modern day football.

The BuLi is full of teams with a financial advantage. Paying to win is what’s ruining English football, but it’s no different to how RB got there, Hoffenheim got there, Wolfsburg got there, Schalke once got there, but no one seems to talk about those.

Off your high horse - your league is just as rigged as ours.

I see.

We are indeed valuing different things as strange as it might seem to you.

I would also say that it's not about moral high ground but just the things we as supporters love about the game.

It's not the rigged sporting side of the PL that primarily disgusts me. It's the dead atmospheres, clubs being in the stranglehold of foreign billionaires, normal fans being prized out of attending.

We value our cracking atmospheres, the right to vote as members of our clubs, affordable ticket prizes, local identification.

So yes, I'd rather never win anything and see 1, 2 seasons of El Mala in an absolutely insane atmosphere organically created by rabid fans who LOVE their city and their club.

RB and Hoffenheim undermine all this not primarily with their money but because they are so hard to care about and in fact hardly anyone does. No coincidence that away fans at Hoffenheim regularly outnumber the home supporters.

Funny that you mention Schalke. I don't disagree with your point that they bought their "success". But noone complained because of the points mentioned above. This club is immensely important to the city of Gelsenkirchen and the surrounding areas. They have sold-out attendance all season round in the 2. Bundesliga. People love this club and always have. They have 200,000+ members that can all have a voice in deciding the fate of the club for better or worse. This is what we value and this is why we don't have patience for RB and Hoffenheim and the likes

RBL Matchday

Completely erasing, again, another match against Bayern and looking ahead to an away trip to Heidenheim - who I just learned from the West Ham game are the only team in Europe yet to keep a clean sheet this season. Odds on them getting a clean sheet today to ruin the day? High. It's the same lineup that absolutely bummed the life off Bayern first half but with Bitshiabu subbing in for the injured Lukeba. I'm hopeful the team might actually put away some of their many chances this afternoon though.

Game is LIVE from 14.30pm
