In world terms, his competition were Schnellinger and Facchetti (from Inter). I M O, he was a more complete player than either and our best ever by a street from Newton, then Baines. Don't remember enough about the very early sixties fullbacks but a lot of older guys swore that Alex Parker was the bees knees.

Wilson and Parker were the best in the world...in 1962.
When we bought Wilson he was 29(?) and ever so slightly... not so as you'd notice, not past his peak, though age DOES play a factor, but he could use his head to save his legs.

Now a days we are all spoiled by Baines and Cloman and for those who are of a less mature age, slightly unknowing, as to how Fullbacking and Football has changed since the early 60's

Short version Wilson and Parker... it didn't get much better ( not that as I remember they ever played together )
