I've always appreciated good footballers no matter who they played for; Ray Clemence was a great goalkeeper and also came across as a decent down to earth person. May he rest in peace,

R.I.P. A quality goalkeeper in his day, one of a few of their players who i didn't detest.

Always baffled me how Shilton ended up with twice as many caps as Clemence. World class keeper even if he did play for them.

RIP Ray.

Taking all rivalry aside that team of theirs in the mid 1970's was formidable,(Christ that hurt lol) in many, many games Ray Clemence would have virtually nothing to do,but whenever he was called upon you could count on him to make a save which would earn them the points, his concentration levels were fantastic.

Never seen him playing for Liverpool but did see him playing for Spurs in 86 at Goidison, a real legend of the game RIP

Sad news ,was a great keeper even though he played for them..
Quality when you see an opposition keeper clapping our own...re Neville Southall with his point blank save at Tottenham on a memorable night darn sarf...RIP Ray.

Went to primary school with his daughter. We had a school fête and he had a stall saving penalties. I missed my first 2 so he let the 3rd one through his legs on purpose! He was a nice guy.

Agree with all that Dario. I think their team in 78/9 season was their best ever, far superior to the present 'greatest team eva'. We had a fine team as well that year, but couldn't keep up with them despite beating them at Goodison ( thanks Kingy).

I always had a grudging respect for Clemence an excellent keeper and always struck me as a decent bloke which that clip sums up superbly, RIP Ray Clemence .
