Raul Meireles

Dont rate him to be honest, looks a bit lightweight and goes missing when it gets tough. He's got an eye for a goal though, something we are seriously lacking and he would cost money, so its a no-go.

Good player, we can't afford him, he'd move to a multitude of other sides before us even if he were on a free.

So no chance, which is a shame.

An excellent player, was gutted when he signed for them, think its a massive mistake they are getting rid of him. As for him coming here, few problems with that.

1) We don't have any money. Maybe, maybe not
2) He'd never come to us and unneccessarily upset Liverpool fans unless we were a career step up or at least on a level, which we are not. He's not a scouser and the ****e have dumped on him. Not a consideration.
3) For betraying his club he'd expect premium wages, the wages he is currently on would probably make him our best paid player anyway, and he'd want more. If he's being shown the door there's no guarantee he could improve on his current contract.
4) Liverpool are under no pressure to sell, they are demanding in the region of £15m from Juve and Inter. To sell to us, they'd demand closer to £20m, which is more than we'd get for either Rodwell or Fellaini (presuming both would be sold) we'd have to spend 2/3 of our potential transfer budget on a feutile bid for a player who's a little out of our range. They can only name 25 players though, so if they don't want him they will be keen for him to leave by the end of August. Why would they demand more from us than from Juve ?
5) We don't have any money.

I love the ambition though, we should fax them a cheeky bid and make it public, just to wind them up.

I disagree and have commented above. Would be a great addition to our squad.

He'll go to balance the books. A non-Dalglish player sacrificed to bring someone like Downing in.

If I was a red I'd be pretty unhappy.

He's a bit 'meh' really. Jack of all trades, master of none. Wouldn't improve us at all, and it doesn't surprise me that Dalglish is looking for something different.

He was their PFA fans player of the year, the fact that nobody has bothered to notice and mention says it all ready.

Is this a serious thread in the Everton section? Of course he's not gonna come here. I'm sorry to say but Liverpool to Everton is still a step down, at best sideways, at the moment. The bastards are a bigger club and there's no way a player on top of his game would make that move. Truth hurts.

i don't think anyone thinks he would come here, it's a suggestion if anyone rates him, and if he would fit in the team.

Its laughable really. And it provides them with all the ammo they need.

I'm sure i can guess the response to this next comment, but for players of obvious class you make them fit in the team. Its feutile however to discuss whether we could accomodate Villa, Pato and Gomez because we have Beckford, Saha and Anichebe.

Meireles is not coming here, its a ridiculous idea with no foundation to it, pointless thread.

Well, yes to the Meireles coming here bit ( i think i just said that ) but the fact you're so prone to believe we can never ever sign another player is a sad state of affairs.

I am living in the same reality as you mate, but please don't be so defeatist.

Its not defeatist, i'm all for optimism. But targeting arguably your rivals best player from last year when its an established fact that your skint is a little OTT for me.

The funny thing is, i'd be a little more receptive to such a thread if we started selling a couple of players and the dead wood, so at least then we had some money to bid with, we'd have a shout !. It'd still be a ridiculous thread if we had Citeh money, but at least then we'd have the means to purchase the player and the biggest obstacle was convincing him.

He's a class above Lucas, Henderson, poulsen, aqualani, spearning and Adam when he turns up

Baffled by them getting rid. Would take him in a heartbeat and they will be weaker without him. Don't think he would come and doubt we could afford him.
