£20-30 million is the going rate for average players these days. Instead of buying a fair few of these in the last couple of years, we should have been adding a couple of £60-70 million players per season if we were serious about competing at a higher level.

Sadly true, the RS got themselves a top goalie and Centre half for these figures.

It's not a difficult concept really, you generally get what you pay for. Buying players from the wrong end of the table was never really going to fire us up the table.
 
20m is about the going rate these days for a bag of mince.

You could do this on most squads and get similar results.

Look at Man U, 50m on Fred FFS!
 
I have no idea why but my mind had convinced me we signed Walcott on a free. Turns out he was 25m lol, absolutely gash. Not ready to totally write off Michael Keane either, yes he has his problems but I would like to see him in a system that doesn't expose our defenders and attack ffs.
