DCL is now under enormous pressure to perform, hopefully he can deal with that. Problem is in most other prem teams I think he would be a 3rd choice striker at best.

Hopefully mirallis plays again we desperately need speed.

We lost the Barkley money now as he runs down his contract which is a big blow now that it seems confirmed we are still a sell to buy club.

One final thing which will be bad news to most but I think not that bad. I bet you we will be seeing niasse playing before Christmas. With Europa, prem and cups it's inevitable. But I actually think at this point he would be at least equal if not better than DCL and sandro in goal scoring based on their performances so far, so I would be ok seeing him coming on sooner rather than later.

This was window number 3 for the new board and management. If you answer 1 question. Have we closed the gap on the current top 6 in those 3 windows. I think not. Great start to but typical everton finish to the window. Not good enough.

On the whole, it was clearly not brilliant. I execpt we clearly needed to strengthen elsewhere, but am bewildered we never replaced Lukaku with at least a 3/4 as good as player

4. Pathetic. Two steps forward 3 steps back. We will not have the goals to get a sniff of top 6. This incompetent board better get some progress going on the stadium before the end of the season, otherwise this will be a very dreary season.

Yep.

And we've got a bunch of squad players who don't want to be here.

...it might have been an underwhelming last day but that shouldn't detract from some excellent looking business. Saying that, the only true benchmark will be what we achieve on the pitch;

- big money acquisitions of Sigurdsson, Keane, Pickford and Klaassen already look decent signings and arguably an improvement on what we had in those positions.

- the lower end purchases of Rooney, Sandro, Vlasic and Martina look decent value.

- let's not forget high profile and costly signings for the U23 group, particularly Gibson from Newcastle and Josh Bowler from QPR. I'm not sure if the Adeniran transfer from Fulham is confirmed but he's worth a look at on YouTube.

- the major disappointment is failure to bring in a striker (and defender). My own view is that we had reached the bottom of our spend envelope. There was no more money left in the transfer pot and there was a dependency on Barkley (and Niasse) leaving. Reports of a last minute bid of £35m for Benfica striker Raul Jimenez came as it appeared Barkley had gone for the same monies.

- I think Barkley is waiting on a move to Spurs. Levy is a shrewd operator, Barkley won't be available until December so wait and get a bargain in January. It's a dangerous game for Barkley if we decide to keep him or Spurs have a change of mind. I also wonder if the new contract offer will be withdrawn given the players we have brought in.

- surprised Callum Connolly was sent on loan to Ipswich given the publicised requirement for a back up to Leighton Baines. Only noticed Liam Walsh to Birmingham on loan this morning, I think Harry will like him.

From a selfish point of view, at least you get a lie in now until January ;)
