I think the international call up perhaps says something about Argentina's paucity of defenders than Mori's star quality.

Notable he didn't get game time. Maybe they looked at him and thought, "yup he's not ready yet". Morale booster for Mori though.

Not exactly a Ramiro love in here. Give him a break FGS. Our defence has been absolutely horrible this season and he should've gone straight back in after recovering from his horrible injury.

Surely he needs to be given game time to help him take part in a World Cup. Would his haters begrudge him that?

Said as much in the Man City match thread. At least the lad has something tangible to play for unlike half of our players who'll have their slippers on now jobs done.

He shouldn’t be thrown back in after an injury like he had just to boost WC hopes. That’s just asking for trouble.

Plus do we really need yet another defensive partnership? Surely we’re hitting records.

It wouldn't have been a matter of throwing him back in. He was back in the U23's before Baines was ready again and surely there was a place for him then. We've been juggling CBs for ages and Martina was occupying the spot that Funes Mori virtually plays for Argentina.
