I think the overreaction is at least in part due to Vickery making it seem like he was completely useless before we ever saw him kick a premier league ball.

Yeah I don't know what he saw in him to decide he'd be an utter failure. But ramming it down the throat of someone who called something wrong after a handful of games makes us look like a bunch of dreadfully sensitive bells.
