Staying in the Premier League is the same as actually winning the European Cup twice?

Not the same but you have to appreciate the financial situation Forest are in. Near £200 million spent in the summer, massive new wage budget including paying Lingard £200k a week.

You would hope for their sake they have a lot of relegation clauses in the new players contracts otherwise they could sink if they go down.

Benitez (or any manager) going there and doing the impossible keeping them up will be worshipped by the fans it really is a no lose situation if that job becomes available.

It's definitely a good position to be in for him. Owner free with cash, a hard working side in the championship, low expectations and plenty of excuses when it doesn't go his way.

If they get Benitez hopefully we can keep grinding out results and be well away from that bottom end of the table and relegation fears come the end of the season. Can already imagine how that could play out. But so far so good so hopefully it's not even a thing, the fear of last season is still firmly with me however.

What's them getting Benitez got to do with us

Don't think Forest fans want him

Having looked at their forums, they don`t they.

They`ve seen what he did here and how he nearly destroyed the club.

They seem like quite a sensible bunch of fans too, no hysteria, just a weary resignation and still a lot of support for Cooper.

Raneri seems to be the favourite - didn`t realise he was out of work tbh.
