People have to get real here, Benitez isn’t the trophy winning manager he was, he still knows how to run a club. He took over a mid table squad, this squad wasn’t improved upon in the window. We all knew what was going to happen when we got injuries. To now blame Benitez for Everton’s problems is to miss the point by a country mile. Everton have become a team the top six expect to beat regularly and teams who want to finish in the top half have to beat. We are 8 players short of being a competitive team, it will take us three years of making the right decisions to get us up there and we haven’t been making the right decisions for years.
When you struggle to give your players away you know things have gone badly wrong.
This unrealistic pressure being put on the club to win a trophy and the toxic atmosphere at games is part of the problem, this season a mid table finish is acceptable, a summer clearing out as much of the dead wood as possible and replacing them with good quality premier league standard players will move us up a few league places and then it is a case of repeat in the forthcoming windows.
It isn’t the manager we need to change it is our transfer policy and our expectations.

No DCL
No Doucoure
No Mina
No Gomes
No Davies
No Holgate

Delph always 1 game away from 8 weeks on the sidelines

How anyone expects the manager to do anything with the injury list is laugable. Who plays in CM tomorrow? Allan & Delph with no legs between them? Gbamin who was given the run around by Rotherham?

We'll get tonked tomorrow, possibly get something away at Brentford and might huff and puff to a plucky 0-0/1-1 draw against the RS but hopes of 5-6+ points in the next 3 are a pipe dream unfortunately.

Injures have wrecked our season - we go again next one with hopefully some money to spend and a better medic department.

Heard there was a 20 page thread on the city forum about holgate missing.
How many straws were in that packet?

But that doesn't mean he is immune to criticism and shoulders no blame though. He is still the one managing the players, running training, sorting tactics etc. He doesn't just pick 11 players each week and hope for the best. (Even if it sometimes seems like that on match day)

You say a mid table squad, but up until the final day we were in with a shout of Europe. 59 points would have had top 8 in all but 1 of the last 20 years or something. And that was also when we had a lot of injuries last season.

Its called a lack of options - cant go 3 at the back or change formation if he wanted as Mina & Holgate are out - if Keane goes down its Godfrey and Branthwaite which wouldn't be a disaster at all.

If Delph goes down who comes into CM? That reliable and quality Gbamin.

This is the problem we have zero, zilch, nada options and you cant be a top 10 club in this league with our injury list never mind top 6/7.

You want a chuckle? Compare our bench tomorrow to Citys.

So basically we're sh!t. No manager will get anything from this lot. Which i agree with btw.
But just to make it even worse we hired a washed up has been kopite. Just to make the sting feel a bit more painful.
Great stuff.

Should have gone for Howe/Smith /Vierra and I almost added Gerrard but that might blow a few fuses. Watford, Norwich, Burnley and Villa are closing the gap. It is time for the relegation doomsters to crawl back into focus.

Thinking at best 3 PTS at Brentford and that's it for them three games

Don't think anyone is expecting 5/6 points. I think most are expecting us to struggle to get any at all. And regardless of injuries, if you think that's acceptable for a fan base to be hoping, rather than expecting to even get something vs brentford then there's something wrong.

And if that happens, and we don't get any as you think we may only possibly get something at brentford so even you think that's a probability, then we potentially could be 17th in the table. 14 games in and on 15 points. We apparently needed allardyce last time that happened to "save us".
