Everton players collapsing is nothing new when anything good is within touching distance. Been there done that with numerous managers.
A case for for and against can be made down the years on many things. Like when leicester won the league. But you're still there and doing it. Fact is we havent been that late on in the season for years.

But the differance is Benitez has to follow the mess Carlo left, with no money to spend, how much did Carlo have? in fact even Sivla and Sam had more. Rafael has this season to steady the ship Carlo took backwards then build towards his third season

Our history, weve won nothing for 25 + years, our club is a mess that needs a clean,no manager of note will want that, no up coming manager will sort it

Shifting players isnt so easy, we did well to get James out as he was just going to take us for what he could. Davies and Holgate we could possibly of made an effort on but the squad is too small and unhealthy, its agood job we kept them in the end since they both needed game time.

Godfrey who was being raved about and on the fringes of the England squad until he got covid and has struggled since.
Doucoure who is now our most important player. (As has been stated by the posters arguing the toss)
Allan who has been vital for Benitez this season.
And James and Nkounkou who aren't at the club.

If he stood out in a mid table team, then that would imply he is the best of the bunch (and could be at a higher level than mid table), so surely carlo improved the squad getting him.....

Or Brands, either way if he did improve the squad he didnt exactly take us forward on the pitch, he failed us there and walked away.

So it's Carlos fault for the mess of a squad, yet the players who did well, you are now saying is Brands?

Yet the players who didn't do well (arguably depending on pov) of James and nkounkou aren't even with the squad so can't be having an impact on the "mess of a squad".

Yes he left us in the lurch, but you keep claiming he left a mess for benitez, what mess did he leave? The same one he inherited but with arguably better players in Godfrey, doucoure and Allan?

(I personally do think brands signed Godfrey, doucoure and nkonkou and Carlo's only signings were James and Allan, but allan has proved to be important for us).

DCL said he didnt know until after Carlo was gone.

I just don't see that being true mate. They had to have known. These things take time and the rumour was there in the media before the season ended.

Benitez poor management of the defence has had a big and negative impact on all of our defenders.

He was the England under 21 captain on merit.

Southgate saw enough under Ancelotti to call him up.

Benitez shouldn't have to coach Godfrey and Keane how to hold onto the ball or how to mark a ball in the air. These are premier league defenders. I don't know if I can blame Benitez for the constant mishaps on defense. Some of the blame must go to him but it seems as though our defenders are incapable of any defensive formation other than Ancelotti and Allardyce's 'sit as deep as possible'
