Just confirmed that he has died. Really sad, he was a hero of mine. I knew him well as he grew up with my uncle. Sad sad news.

No, he was really sick. The last story I read was he could not get a life saving operation for false teeth because he was too frail. But the reason he was frail was he needed to eat solid food after his throat cancer.

A horrible way to go.

I saw him last week and as usual he said he was feeling great. He looked like a walking skeleton though, and i sort of knew it was only a matter of time. He was always in the bookies, spent his day between there and the pub. Did not give up drinking or smoking right to the end.

Grew up with my uncle in Sandy Row and Donegalls pass in Belfast. The stories my uncle had about him always make me smile. I'm actually smiling now at one in particular that i just cant share.
