never played champ manager so cant really say
but i love a couple hours on fooball manager (y)

Champ manager all the way (the sega one)

the designers were all blues, therefore Everton tend to be even more boss than in real life

That was football manager wasn't it?

I remember playing the original championship managers back in the early 90's on the commadore amiga.

when players had fictional names and all sorts. it really took off when they populated it all with real managers, players and details.

today we have a massive choice.

The designers of the original Champ Manager had a fall out with sega and now work on FM.

I'm sure GOT will post something about them - if he hasn't already as I haven't bothered to read - he's quite pally with them.

FM all the way. Unless you travel back in time to 2002 or something, then its CM.

I still have my copy of Champ Manager 93 for the Amiga. No Amiga like, but still. I actually keep my russian porn dvd in it now too, she'll never find it there.

Those lads have done more for the computer game industry in Britain than pretty much anyone.

the database they created is used by the club now too - apparently.

I have the upmost respect for them and their passion for football.

As I said I played the original back in I think 92/93... so have seen how its evolved and how other manufacturers (likes of EA Sports) have imitated them.

I like the FIFA Manager games, purely for the graphic content.

The detail level though on Football Manager when you get into it is enormously high and realistic.

The trouble is its so detailed its tough to do so, where as the former is abit more accessible.

Great market though.

anyone use these things for betting purposes ?
The databases reidy?

Yes I suspect they do although they wouldn't advertise the fact.

Most football odds are calculated relatively simply from memory.

Apparently the bookies work on the number of shots principle primarily.

The more shots/attempts you have in a game on target, the more likely you are to win. So that statisticians tell us.

It sounds obvious but that then is converted into the winning odds for a match.

So they look at number of shots game to game.
