Just heard this from a mate of a mate etc.

Probably jarg but would represent good business as he's down to the last 18 months on his deal.

I hope he stays because we play better when he's on the pitch but we can't afford to let valuable players go on a free.

Like I say hopefully it's jarg.

Uh, this is Everton. We sold the best footballer this country has produced in 15 years for Â£25m.

And he's achieved nothing since he's come here, he was on the bench for long periods until this season, got sent off in the WC final and had a crap Euros. I don't think we should sell him for Â£5m but i also don't think other clubs are mad for offering that much. They know we need money, and he's on a fair wedge.

It's the one position we're overstocked in like. He's probably our best CB but between Distin, Jagielka and Duffy we've got some decent replacements.

Surely that can't be right. Why would his contract end in January 2014?
