Its not going to be completed is it? Once the rs get their six points they will call it a day and cancel the rest of the season
It’ll finish or Sky will be less compromising about their huge rebate which they’ve just deferred to allow clubs to buy players this summer.

Sky need the pageantry of big money signings entering the league, which is a huge reason for the league’s popularity. Fining the clubs with a huge bill to pay doesn’t help the product one bit. But it’ll happen big time if the league doesn’t finish.

The meeting today is to establish what’ll happen in the case of a second wave and a forced curtailment. As far as I know, the biggest issue on the table is relegation. The FA oppose the idea of no relegation and apparently have a 'golden share' in any vote, which presumably means they can wade in if fewer than 14 clubs support the FA’s stance. However, only six clubs currently opposerelegation so I think it’s a non-starter.

How have you definitively concluded that only 6 clubs support the no relegation position?

Possibly an over-reach from me on that one. I don't definitely know. However, the noises we're hearing seem to indicate that there are 6 clubs. A glance at the PL table indicates that there would certainly be 6 teams interested in binning relegation. Southampton are 7th from bottom, 7 points from the drop - a win or two probably sees them safe so are less likely to vote alongside the pack of clubs beneath them.

You’re ignoring the possibility that clubs who are safe might think that relegating clubs from the PL on a PPG basis is not the right thing to do, or has any sporting integrity whatsoever.

As a club who have had our own last day escape, I’d hope we were one them tbh.

He might be a winner, but these are the players who went to Anfield in the Cup and lost to a reserve team....sorry but can totally see our players phoning it in....we'll be killed in the derby again

Yes, this. This is a perfect opportunity for our players to go into hiding with no fans on their back. We will coast to a 15th place finish.

I see what you are saying but sporting integrity is, arguably, a false flag. It can be interpreted however you want to play it.

Is there sporting integrity in not promoting teams? Is there integrity in giving the likes of Norwich 38 more games in the PL? Is there integrity in letting West Ham off the hook despite it being run by morally bankrupt people intent of ripping the soul out of that club? Regardless of your answers to these questions, 'sporting integrity' cannot be easily defined and is basically subjective.

Anyway, if it comes down to PPG, I'm not sure the primary motivating factor is sporting integrity. Self-interest is at play - both in terms of the bottom 6 wanting to avoid relegation and the rest who won't care who is relegated as they know it won't be them.

Might be the perfect pressure-free environment for the lads to go on a mad unbeaten run and secure European qualification. Anyone?

Would love to see in the Europa League. Unlikely to happen though. Think we'll be lucky to make top 10. Will there even be European football next season? Certainly not with fans till at least 2021.

This is exactly what is going to happen... As soon as Liverpool have won it (first week back will sort that), just watch the media's agenda change...and the Premier league bosses will curtail the season...
