Playing out the season now would be a farce anyway. A team like ours for instance, not gonna get Europe and not gonna get relegated. What motivation is there for our players to possibly place themselves at risk when they have absolutely no need to ? This probably could be said of around 10 teams in the premier league right now.

Just read this article by Kristian The Cry Baby Walsh, these RS need their heads tested.

1. Gary Neville

Believe it or not, but Neville has been largely on the side of finishing the campaign – you just have to sift through his daily attempts to wind-up Jamie Carragher. He rallied against both Piers Morgan and Rio Ferdinand after their suggestions, and it should also be pointed out the former Manchester United man opened up his two Manchester hotels for NHS staff during the crisis – a class act from someone whose politics are closely aligned to Liverpool’s, even if neither of them would admit it.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Those beacons of socialism and community in a crisis, the furlough-ing kings of Eurovision. The famous slum lords of Anfield.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Go and work for Trump you monumental bellend.

I dont understand this though. Even if they do source them "privately" (whatever that means), then they are just lowering the global supply for the medical profession.

The demand for tests outstrips the supply. So tests should go to those needing them most. If we have the top leagues in Europe testing hundreds every day, then that just hurts the whole procurement system? Or do I fundamentally misunderstand how it works?

I see the point you're making TT but I don't see why football should make a big point about 'oh well, we can do it even if you can't' sort of thing with testing.

Players won't be happy, fans certainly aren't

Communiqué du club
Olympique Lyonnais has taken note of the decision proposed by the Office of the Professional Football League and endorsed this afternoon then by its Board of Directors, to end the 2019/20 season of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, based on the remarks made by Prime Minister Edouard Philippe during his speech at the National Assembly on the conditions of deconfinement.
This government position did not seem to impose in a prohibitive way such a final stop today from Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, the Minister of Sports Roxana Maracineanu having previously indicated the possibility of playing in August if the evolution of the health situation allowed it.

Olympique Lyonnais then proposed as early as Tuesday that the League study an alternative solution which would allow the Championship to be ended and thus preserve the fairness inherent in any sporting competition and to be in line with UEFA's proposals based on sporting merit according to objective, transparent and non-discriminatory principles.

This solution shared by other clubs was based on the principle of play-offs and play-downs, a title of champion acquired by PSG, with a calendar limited to 3 weeks consistent with health constraints, and an innovative formula which normally could have interested broadcasters, currently lacking content, as well as sports betting and all other economic players in the football industry. This solution made it possible very precisely to meet UEFA's wish to go after national competitions.

Given the judgment of the French Ligue 1 Championship, decreed today by the League, Olympique Lyonnais reserves the right to appeal against this decision and claim damages, in particular under the loss of chance and in light of the jurisprudence of other professional sports which are currently in progress, since the damage for the club amounts to several tens of millions of euros.

Olympique Lyonnais sincerely congratulates the champions, PSG for Ligue 1 and Lorient for Ligue 2, who were proclaimed today and hopes that OL Féminin can quickly have the same consecration.

How can they play during August when the government banned football until September?

They were pretty crap this year. I just dont think it's a good look to be threatening legal action during the pandemic.

If it's in the rules of the league that it goes on current position if cancelled, then I dont get this.

Some people are saying the rules state as is after the last full round of games. Other stating the rules just say the leaders will be declared champions shpuld the league not finish.

They were but a 40 game season where there are still 12 games and 36 points to play for, you can argue that they have the quality to make up 9 points.

Would be interesting to see in each leagues over the last 6/7 years, positions in the table at the same date the leagues were suspended to the final day positions. I imagine they would be different every year.

Suppose it depends on the actual rules of the league. How is it integrity to decide a competition when its only 80% completed and nothing is mathematically certain.

Only reason there was no winner in Holland is because two teams had same points. Psg been given title, Belgian League too. Nullandvoiderpool are miles ahead unfortunately. I agree they do actually deserve it, but if i was villa and they got relegated that’s where they need to fume
