Project restart discussion.

Can't wait until the inevitable spike in cases in Liverpool if they restart the season. Seriously, the amount of people who will get together to watch them two games. It's so so stupid to even consider it.

I'm not bothered about it finishing now (not voided) because it doesn't affect me.

It still should not happen, the relegated teams will be rightfully livid.

Yes curtailment (rather than voiding although you seemed to indicate that anyway) looks to be the only correct option morally, but as Arminisgod has been posting it's not necessarily the option they'll take.

The tv rights (tbf Sky and BT would probably be accommodative and come to an arrangement - but overseas broadcasters won't) is really driving this and the huge financial sums involved, none bigger than the difference between being in the prem and not, would be a similar driving force for teams who may not have a chance of achieving something unless restarted. In this world unfortunately money and tbf real financial survival for some clubs, can become their only priority.

Lower down the leagues curtailment and deciding on points per game or any formula is a problem, so while no relegation for the prem is possible and maybe elsewhere, how would you even start to adjudicate on promotion from league one with such fine fractions separating teams?

Finding any fair solution (at least in the lower leagues) is impossible imo and court action from some chairman probable.

Any chairmen who in the midst of this worldwide pandemic and unprecedented national crisis, with leagues doing their utmost best but inevitably coming to imperfect solutions, who thinks adding a law suit to the mix for any perceived aggrievance, perhaps even stretching on for many months or even years, is the right thing to do only deserves contempt.

The chaiman of Utrecht in Holland has set such a disgraceful example, by challenging their league's decision to give the champions league places to their two joint leaders. Utrecht not even in the Europa places have brought a law suit which if successful would pay them far more than they could ever hope to gain from any potential Europa league campaign.

Unfortunately there would no doubt be similar altruistic and helpful souls here, always anxious to put their own aggrievances aside to help football through this crisis - sad but being sarcastic is the only way to put it kindly.
Curtail the league!

In all the articles getting printed/broadcast by the media theres never a mention of Man City, who have won silverware already and are still on course to win two more, all the replies about how unfair it is,the only ones posting are rs,you never see a Sheff United,Leicester,Villa Bournemouth or any others crying just them lot

We all know that the media is infested with RS supporters or at least awash with people with tendencies towards defending them - genuine or put on.

Genuine question: which teams in the league or in the Championship have the most to lose financially? I think we all know that it's not Liverpool.

Its a difficult question to answer, the rs will certainly be losing out, depending on sponsorship clauses etc,but to lower league teams this is going to wipe them out

If Liverpool are given the title although not mathematically certain as champions, it would mean the potential for relegation for those who aren't certain to go down.

The impact on those clubs would be huge even with the parachute payment. If teams aren't relegated, the financial impact on Leeds et al. would be huge.

Whether they like it or not, they do not have the most to lose.

I said earlier on unless the behind closed doors involved the whole pyramid of football then it cant be justified, voiding it gives every team equality and I cant see an act of god not holding up in court,

I listened to a snippet from the interview with the Watford chairman this morning on local radio, have to say he sounded like a likeable bloke with a sensible view on the whole situation. He is more concerned with the NHS not getting swamped and people remaining healthy than getting back to football anytime soon and puts his point across well.

Incidentally Ian Wright said pretty much the same thing but still managed to sound a bit of a bellend.
He's hardly likely to change a habit of a lifetime.

Spain, Italy, Germany and England will all see out their leagues, Holland will reverse their decision, then France probably as well.

The French and Netherlands government made the decisions by banning sporting events until September, nothing to do with the leagues or football bodies (apparently the French football Association were taken by suprise).

They can only start if their governments revert the decisions, which im assuming took a lot of thought before coming to the decisions.
