Products you won’t compromise on

'Compromise' on pretty much everything. Processed food you think tastes better in my opinion is mainly due to nostalgia and familiarity, budget supermarket gear is no less quality in my experience.

I could name a few where you buy the best quality possible though.

Bacon - buy the best. Cheap is loaded with water and you'll use twice as much to get the same flavour cooking with it. Same with cheap cheese flavour wise as the wise @COYBL25 mentioned.

Tinned tomatoes - always buy whole tomatoes not chopped, they are of a lesser grade.

Don't compromise on cheap cut meats or pate. Or any processed meats. Read your ingredients. My missus doesn't go shopping with me anymore because I study the labels so intensely, putting more effort into selecting the right sausages than I ever do into my actual job.

Heinz tinned spaghetti.
Napolitana or better tinned tomatoes.
Proper marmite.
Pasties - will only buy in Cornwall, or Devon if they've come from Cornwall, and from certain bakeries.
Jam and pickle - Bay Tree. I feckin' love overpriced condiments and preserves, and cheap jam tastes like arse.
Colmans English Mustard.

Clarks shoes for my kids, properly fitted.
