Its all about the timing of when the voting is (im sure its around this time of year)
Good example of it being a strange time to vote is Coutinho last year, he had a great feb & march but nothing else but got on the shortlist thanks to that.
I think Kante will get on the shortlist if the votes are happening now, wheras 2 months ago he wouldnt of. Likewise Alli. (I think both have been really good all season btw im just pointing out that it usually revolves around hype from media). Also if voting is happening now Stones will not be on the shortlist for young player, wheras a month or so ago he would of been a shoe in.
Eriksson is geared up to have a strong finish to the season and people will be throwing his name around at the end of the season, these will be the sae people who have said he has been quiet this season (he hasent by the way, spurs turned those draws into wins the second he came back from injury)

Anyway my shortlist would be
Player
Vardy, Mahrez, Kante, Payet, Alderweirald, Ozil

Young Player
Alli, Barkley, Dier, Kane, Lukaku, Kone

When does it get picked? I'd say whichever player emerges as the one to win his side the league. Could be one player from any of the top four

no idea mate.

Still, he gets 20 + assists and its some achievement! He will be final 3 at the very least, even if the winner is vardy.

Top 3 for me are Vardy, Mahrez and DeGea though I think DeGea is coming back down to earth a bit so Ozil could slip in. Vardy right now for me is the clear No.1 though. Just being on the pitch he gives LC the luxury of being able to sit 9 back in defense and surrender 60-66% of possession all while still giving Leceister a chance to score at any time.

and to be fair he will be a worthy winner of it. Can't help but feel Myrez is slightly more deserving though and losing a bit of the plaudits because he isn't English or come from non league.
