Can't help but feel the whole thing has been exaggerated, but if we have to have empty stadiums why are they stopping at that? Train stations, offices, buses, cafes, schools, workplaces, pubs also have to be empty also. It does not make sense just saying sports stadiums and events must be empty but everything else just carry on as normal as possible.

mate, have you seen what has gone on in China, what’s happening in northern Italy

it won’t be the case of carrying on as normal soon, look at the YouTube videos from Wutan in China

It's just not about football now - this article shows what real life is like on the ground there https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...y-doctors-intensive-care-deaths-a9384356.html

Edited to remove the crazy long Reddit paste - any way of just including a reddit URL?

fast becoming another Wuhan isn’t it.

The point has come when it’s impossible to expect the virus will disappear or totally stop increasing without making some adjustment and precaution in our lives.
With an average of one infected spreading to 3. It will soon balloon towards tens of thousand within weeks. Europe as a whole have not realise how serious it can be.

The earlier people start to adjust, the likelihood of a full blown lockdown will be slimmer.

It's an easy win to show they're doing something. Stop public transport or shopping centres and it hits the economy.

I will be shocked if they stop spectators attending matches, where do we draw the line? Is it every league and game or just the premiership and championship.
Lets say Saturday, Marine are home and 5000 turn up to watch some football?

Also, how many people visit Liverpool 1 and the Trafford Centre over a weekend, are they closing too?

A football match and other sports events PROLONG the time exposed to other people. The match: you;re at least 90 minutes sitting within 2 meters of a lot of people. This thing needs about 15 minutes contact to stand the chance of being passed on generally speaking. Obviously, if you go shopping you stand a lot less risk in that respect, if you're a shopper.

It's just common sense. No sports event is worth one life.

R/s said in the pub " people outside of football don't realise how important it is,they can't cancel it there will be riots".

To be fair I've spoken to a few who've pretty much accepted they'll win it behind closed doors and aren't crying about it. No doubt some of them will complain.

It doesn't even matter anymore. No one should be giving a flying one about it. Football is not a priority and it never was over life and death. The PL will go to them, but they wont get the chance to savour it. It's not important.
