Played against Cosford, Stafford and Valley in the past, always decent games. As you said fitness always played a big part, although we always got a decent game at Cosford.

The fittest team I ever played against was the "lifers" of Walton jail.

Unbelievably fit, guess they spent all their time training, nothing else to do.

Good Grief.

I NZ a team from the nearest Max Security Prison got to the Rugby League Amateur Final, it was played at Rugby League Park in Christchurch an old Commonwealth Games Stadium and the team was basically Gang Members from the many Gangs over there, so the game turned into a Gangs Day Out. Which it doesn't need a great imagination to imagine what it was like, apparently a day of utter mayhem.... surprised that some NZ director hasn't based a film on it from what the reports were like at the time.

When the 2 Boys schools in Christchurch play each other though they get crowds upto 15,000, made up of Old Boys on the lash which always ends up with 30 & 40 year old scores being settled, I met a fella in Lanzarote that was heading back just for it.

Poor start for us. Probably because our manager said before the season "I want us to play three formations at a time, one when we've got possession and one when we haven't".

It's a good job the ref counts the players on each team at the start...........

Yep - I've heard about that, years ago I worked with a guy who played in those games, he went on to play for junior All Black teams but never made the senior squad....

The funny thing about playing the "lifers" was that they had to behave immaculately otherwise they were off the team and there were plenty of replacements waiting. So although they were super fit, they were probably the cleanest team I ever played against also. They never played away games though, just used the pitch in the prison itself.

I used to play for Cosford, proper easy league when I was there, it was ridiculous. We played in the league cup final against Valley and were 8-0 up at half time, won 13-1 in the end. Think that's why they added the army teams to it.

Fantastic game this morning, we ran out 5-1 winners and I bagged a brace with my left foot. (I only use my right foot for standing on)

Ice bath time now otherwise will not be able to walk tomorrow...

'Seconds Out Round Three' in the mornin' for the kids, Lad's a bit wary tbh but I know he wont hold back and if that lad tries to do him again I suspect he'll be getting another uppercut, can't condone it like but what are you supposed to do when someone is trying to injure folk & the ref isn't doing anything about it.

Says he's doin a dive celebration in front of their parents if he scores.

Cheers Roydo :D

So yeah, just wanted to post my result from earlier.

Just played a game at a little stadium in Norwich called Carrow road. Won 4 -1, i came on as a sub in goal for the last 15.

Unfortunatly it was then they decided to score :( weren't my fault, shocking defending leaving their guy unmarked from a cross. I came out to narrow the angle and he hit the post but it then bounced out to someone else unmarked who scored before i could get back up.

Didn't have to do much else, cleared a couple of through balls and caught a couple of crosses.

And sliced a kick out for a throw in Tim Howard style!

But a great experience, the pitchy seemed absolutely massive, glad to make it through uninjured with my dodgy back and knees.

Thought the season had finished, but someone arranged a game today. Very hard pitch, but a good game, running out 5-2 winners. I bagged a brace.

Last game of the season today, two month break now until September, pitch much better after the thunderstorms of last night. Good game against a team of Italian veterans - finished 3-3.

Look forward to next season, I think it will be my 47th season of football in one form or the other...

Got suspended for having a bit of a punch up.

I Only slightly head butted the guy as he had his face right in mine. Seven weeks out so I'm running around for another side and I scored a stormer playing as a guy called 'Coombsey'.

Coombsey's never played so well.
