See what you mean the world of course and having the option of an alternative to Barkley would be nice.

But I think it's great that he's going to get more game time as the alternative didn't happen and it's only until January when you'd hope it will be priority again.

Fair enough, mate. I have a sneaky suspicion that the 'number 10', had we signed one, would have actually played on the left like Pienaar. Meaning it wouldn't have affected Barks, but that's purely a guess.

But yeah, hope it's still a priority.

Day Man!

Sorry, have been away for a few weeks, have we signed anybody yet or are we still just masturbating furiously over jarg tweets by @Moomin in made up foreign languages.
I think we need a number 10 urgently. Anyone else agree?

We got very little done in this transfer window. In fact, our biggest accomplishment is keeping all our key players. Apart from that I'm not to sure what else we could run around talking about.

Our team was badly in need of some craft and guile in and amongst all the madness and we got none of that. Still don't see who can really play a quality final pass in the team. Not seeing who can keep the ball really well under pressure. That stuff is important as it creates space, helps us take advantage of such space but not just that, it keeps us in games competing with any quality opposition. If we had better players on the ball, then we wouldn't need Lukaku to go around holding the ball up, even though we know that's not his strength.

We play some really technical football without really technically gifted players. That doesn't bode well for what we're trying to build. Martinez needs to learn that with the way he's trying to have us playing football, we're gonna need players who can execute such.

We should be aware of what's happening around us and what other squads have that we can use. For example, we could have tried to use Norwich's want of Naismith to get in Redmond. This is would be great especially when selling to top teams as they often have wasted talent lounging around the club, without being used. Chelsea themselves have Chabolah, Atsu and Loftus cheek on their books that they don't value much. United have Pereira, Thorpe, Johnstone and Lingard not playing. City will soon have Roberts disgruntled, they had Lopez and Suarez who left due to not playing.
All the mentioned lads have great quality and are players that we could use. They are young too, that means the effect in the transfer fee wouldn't be great. We could do the same to teams lower than us who want anything from us. We need to start getting creative in the market as its obvious we just don't have the money to splash around.

Im sorry but none of those players would be of use to us, im a fan of the boy Redmond, but we already have 5 wingers in the squad.

The rest whilst decent prospects wouldnt really be useful IMO.

Despite those 5 we have Cleverley running around on the wings for some reason. He's better than all we have. They'd be really useful once martinez does with them what he's done with Stones/Barkley. Get them on the pitch and watch them develop. The issue with english football atm isn't that there aren't quality young players around, its that these players just aren't being played. If we played them we'd pick up bargains like no ones business.

But Cleverley has performed quite well in that role. I think the manager views him in that role.

Who is McCarthy's replacement then? Or are we all going along with the notion that absolving your central midfielders of attacking responsibility just so your fullbacks can get a bit further forward is the way to go? It's our poor central midfield that is holding us back, and we will not progress if we continue with this ridiculous and incredibly NEGATIVE tactic.

Can see Delph being available in 12 months time like.
