Bollox to a number 10. If Lukaku is in beast mode with Mirallas and Lennon either side of him and Barkley behind him he's easily got enough ammo to bag a ton of goals.

Lukaku can't play every game and Barry just isn't up to it. They're the two biggest problems for me.

Went for 5 only because the attacker/striker situation hasn't really improved unless Leandro proves to be a godsend.

Strengthening in the CB position was a given after losing 2 there, and we are OK in the CM and wide areas.

The future seems to depend on these players who have been brought in for next to nothing proving to be a success.

Just hoping it all works out OK.

It was further proof that loads of you are no better than Geordies when it comes to your personal game of Top Trumps during the window.

The gnashing of teeth and virtual meltdowns as the clock ticked towards the end of the window was ace, how dare they do this to you?!

So for that reason alone it was a 10 out of 10. The forum needs rich pickings and this window provided it. I'm a big fan.

So who would we have sold if we'd gotten Yarmolenko? Would we have refused to pay so much for Mori? Or not got Lennon? Because there's no way we would've had a £35-40m net spend.

imagine bills face when the bill came thro for mori!

'bob, you got your credit card on you?? this bill is saying £9.5m and you told me he was only £5.5m??, can somebody please double check this price. thanks'

I think the real problem is not with this window but with the previous ones where we replaced Deulofeu with Atsu, Eto'o and Traore didn't work out and we never addressed the mounting problems with Alcaraz and Distin.

We were never going to solve everything here.

Galloway and Browning have got a bit of experience out of the predicament and with Funes-Mori coming in and Holgate down the tracks hopefully, there's a bit of a plan there now.

Deulofeu and Lennon give us better options out wide. There may be times when Mirallas might have to play in the centre, as Lukaku can't play every game, Kone's not really up to it and this Rodriguez kid can't be expected to make an immediate impact. To be honest, I can see why we kept hold of Naismith.

Cleverly was a real positive until his injury which is a shame in light of Barry's alarming decline. Nothing we can do about that but he won't be injured forever.

If we'd have got that glamour signing, probably would be seen in a different light.

It shuld be 10 just for Stones..
The rest is phenomenally top 12 calibre...ffs even Swansea now looks unreachable...
The main target now is to get 25 goals from Luk and keep him fit...

We didn't need a glamour signing.

We needed a number 10.

He didn't have to be a Martial transfer fee, we just needed the right player for that position and we didn't even get our sixth choice backup on loan. That's a total failure.

Who was our sixth choice backup?

Gave it a 7. I think, all in all, it wad a good window. We managed to keep Stones, we extended Mirallas, McCarthy and Garbutts contracts, we signed Deulofeu, Lennon and Cleverly who have definitely improve the squad, and we also signed Funes Mori, Rodriguez, and Holgate, who are young players with potential.

We have without any doubt a better squad than last season. As long as we win our home games and get a few results away we'll be fine. All the clubs who spent more than us will take points of each other and most of them will need time to gel, so no worries.

What's a bit disappointing is that we have been looking for a playmaker since last summer if I'm not mistaken and we still have not sign one. Definitely remember Robeto saying we were looking for a playmaker to replace Pienaar.

We definitely lack creativity, someone who can play with their head-up when the game slows down. I'm honestly not sure that Yarmolenko is that type of player anyway, it's often a passer from a deeper position that controls the game. McCarthy isn't going to do that and Barry is in terminal decline, neither of those two are offering anything when we get forward.

Yes

What we need is balance. Across the width of the pitch.

We've had a serious lack of wingers for years.

I predict great things will follow in short order.

Watch this space.

6. Would have been a seven, but we didn't manage to get rid of any of the dead wood on the roster. Not selling any starters is a good thing, but keeping guys like McGeady and Pienaar and Gibson around makes it really difficult to bring in new players, either through transfers or bringing up youngsters.
